The Hair

TIGI's Nick Irwin and Heath Grout set the models' retro finger waves the old-school way with hair tongs. "Setting hair is almost a lost art since the flat iron became popular," Grout told us. "The technique is crucial to that time period look." Irwin and Grout began by spritzing the Catwalk Your Highness Root Boost Spray ($12; drugstore.com) all over, then dried the style completely straight. After creating a low ponytail, they separated hair into three sections, wound them around a curling iron, then clipped each area into place to set and cool. The style was brushed out with a boar bristle brush to impart the loose wave.
