Olivia Culpo brought home the Miss Universe crown for the United States for the first time since 1997. She walked across the stage in a magenta velvet Georges Hobeika Couture gown. Her first foray into pageantry was when she entered and won the Miss Rhode Island competition in 2011, wearing a rented $20 gown that had a hole in it.
