Steal the Look: The Bling Ring Star Katie Chang’s Subtle Smoky Eye

Jun 14, 2013 @ 2:00 pm

For the leader of The Bling Ring gang, one could expect Katie Chang to opt for the ultimate bad girl smoky eye, but in real life, her makeup taste is more subtle. “Katie is a super-cool young lady. She wanted to play up her green eyes, but still wanted to look like herself,” said her makeup artist Nick Barose, who created her look for the film’s New York City screening. “We literally did this eye in under five minutes!” Barose applied Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick Eye Color ($24; lauramercier.com) directly to the star’s lids, smudged it slightly, and cleaned up around the edges with a pointed cotton swab. He then used Orlane’s Highlighter Care Brush ($40; orlane.com) to give her brows a subtle contour. “Dabbing the highlighter on the brow bone is a quick, easy way to make the shadow pop without doing a complicated technique,” he added. Soft, sexy, and easy to create — could this look be any more perfect for summer?

Go Inside Jessica Alba’s Beverly Hills Home With DomaineHome.com

Below is an excerpt from “Jessica Alba: True Believer,” which originally appeared on Domaine’s site. Read the full story, plus see more pictures of Alba’s stunning Beverly Hills home at domainehome.com.

When Jessica Alba and her husband, producer Cash Warren, first set eyes on their Beverly Hills house, their overwhelming impression of its aesthetic was that it was contrived. “Faux-aged orange and yellow walls, terracotta everywhere—a combo of Tuscan and Spanish that I’d describe as El Torito-ish,” the mother-of-two laughs. Not a promising start—especially considering that off-screen, Alba has made it her mission to embrace authenticity, co-founding the eco-friendly home and baby product brand The Honest Company, and recently penning a lifestyle guide outlining her principles of healthy living, The Honest Lifewhich touches on the stylish and safe elements she prizes in her own house, from non-VOC paint, to PVC-free vinyl chairs. Still, there was something about the layout of the residence that spoke to the actress, who was pregnant with her first daughter, Honor, at the time: “It felt cozy. It felt like family. And aesthetically, I knew I could do whatever I wanted with it—it was a blank canvas.” Click to see photos of the home, and visit domainehome.com to read the full story.

The fashion world is in mourning: Annabel Tollman, former fashion director and stylist to the stars, passed away in her sleep last week at age 39. The British stylist became known for her her ability to highlight the female figure, which led her to dress a range of body types and personalities in Hollywood, including Scarlett Johansson (in Valentino), Anne Hathaway (in Nina Ricci), the Olsen twins, and Kristen Wiig (in J. Mendel). Her sartorial vision, her keen eye, and her old-Hollywood glamour aesthetic will be missed. In her memory, click to see several of the memorable celebrity looks she put together for the red carpet.

Ring the Wedding Bells! Zac Posen Creates Wedding Dress Collection for David’s Bridal

Jun 14, 2013 @ 11:20 am
Zac Posen Bridal Looks Imaxtree (3)

This is the best thing to happen to David’s Bridal since Vera Wang: Zac Posen just announced he’s doing a collection for the bridal retailer. The collaboration, named Truly Zac Posen, will include bridal styles for $850 to $1,350 and special occasion looks (think bridesmaids and beyond) for $195 to $225. “David’s Bridal brings shared vision and incomparable expertise in the category,” Posen says in a statement. “From our first meeting regarding inspiration and design direction, our desire to offer high-fashion, glamorous design at an affordable price-point was clearly in alignment. From there, ‘Truly Zac Posen’ was born.” The lineup will include gowns in ivory and “a touch of portobello,” he promises, as well as special occasion dresses in neutral and seasonal colors. Judging from the all-white gowns that have sashayed down his runway, some of which are shown here, we can’t wait to see how he’ll integrate his bold glamour and feminine silhouettes into looks fit for walking down an aisle. His first collection will be available in stores and online starting February 2014. And, like Vera Wang’s David’s Bridal collection, new styles will be released throughout the year. Tell us: Would you shop for Zac Posen at DB?

Clark Kent Chic: 14 Super Manly Stars in Geeky Glasses

Jun 14, 2013 @ 10:30 am

When Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, the men behind the original Superman, first created Clark Kent and his alter ego in the early 1930s, Kent was nothing more than a geek in glasses. But recently, Kent’s trademark look has been getting some respect, with hunky stars like Justin Timberlake, Usher, Johnny Depp, Josh Duhamel, and more taking a break from their usual super man looks to don the retro eyewear, sparking a craze that we have yet to see the end of. So in honor of the latest Superman film, Man of Steel (starring Amy Adams and Henry Cavill, in theaters today) have a glance at some hunky stars in glasses, proving—like Kent himself—you should never judge a book by its cover.
