Who runs the world? Girls! Chime for Change’s The Sound of Change Live concert in London aired last night, and in addition to the showstopping performances by Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Mary J. Blige, the event also raised a cool $4.3 million in ticket sales. The proceeds will benefit 200 of Chime for Change’s projects to advance the lives of women and girls in over 70 countries, and host Gucci even allowed attendees to donate the value of their ticket to non-profit organizations of their choice. Salma Hayek, Gucci’s Frida Giannini, Zoe Saldana, and Blake Lively also attended, and were treated to a surprise duet performed by Bey and Jay-Z. Change never sounded so sweet! Chime for Change’s Concert for Women’s Empowerment Airs Tomorrow!

Jun 1, 2013 @ 4:00 pm

Beyonce and Madonna are  sounding off for a cause–and they’re bringing extra dose of girl power to boot! Tonight in London, Queen Bey, Jennifer Lopez, Rita Ora, and many more will take the stage at The Sound of Change Live, a concert held by Gucci’s Chime for Change campaign working to raise awareness for girls’ and womens’ issues. “I am really happy that so many amazing artists and presenters have come together to support Chime for Change,” Beyonce said. “Our goal is to have a great time together while we unite and strengthen the voices of girls and women around the world.” In addition to the star-studded performance lineup, Madonna is scheduled to present, along with Freida Pinto, Zoe Saldana, Jessica Chastain, and many others. Funds raised at the event will benefit non-profit organizations pursuing change, and encouraging education for women and girls around the world. “60% of the children in the world not in school are girls, and two-thirds of the world’s illiterate are women,” Madonna added. “We need to change this and we will change this!” We hear that! Tune in to NBC tomorrow night at 9 PM EST to see the full show.

Found It! Zoe Saldana’s Scarlet Lipstick at the Cannes Film Festival

May 23, 2013 @ 7:30 am

Zoe Saldana‘s tour de red lip continues! After sporting the bold hue at the Star Trek Into Darkness premieres in London and Los Angeles, she took the latest version to Cannes for the perfect finishing touch to her Valentino look. “Deep red lips gave a pop to the entire look,” said her makeup artist Vera Steimberg. “There’s no better place to rock a red lip than France!” Steimberg chose Laura Mercier‘s Stickgloss Lip Color in Cranberry, a crimson-plum hybrid with the slightest amount of shimmer. “It was the perfect color to complement the rest of Zoe’s makeup,” she added. Pick up the color for yourself at lauramercier.com for $22.

Found It! Zoe Saldana’s True Crimson Lipstick

May 16, 2013 @ 1:30 pm

Red lipstick has been a popular choice for Zoe Saldana during her whirlwind Star Trek Into Darkness premiere tour, but the sanguine hue she paired with her daring Rodarte number in Los Angeles made the biggest impact yet! “As soon as I saw the dress, I knew we had to go with a red lip,” said her makeup artist Vera Steimberg, who chose Laura Mercier‘s Creme Smooth Lip Color in Hollywood. “I wanted to create a chic, French-inspired look for Zoe.” Because the striking color can bring out redness in your complexion, take extra time to conceal any imperfections so that your lips remain the focal point. Pick up a tube of Saldana’s lipstick for $26 at lauramercier.com.

Over the past few weeks, Zoe Saldana has traveled around the world, from Berlin to London to Los Angeles, to premiere her new sci-fi flick, Star Trek Into Darkness (out May 16). And the 34-year-old actress packed along quite the high-fashion wardrobe, thanks to her longtime stylist, Petra Flannery. “I just know whatever she puts together for me I’ll feel like the prettiest girl in the room,” Saldana previously told InStyle.com. “It’s a synchronicity that we have where she’s given me the encouragement to follow my own instincts. At the end of the day, it’s my voice and my flavor every time I step out of my house.” And what a fabulous flavor it is! Click through to see all of her premiere looks.
