The stars of New Year’s Eve got into the festive spirit for the Los Angeles premiere last night, and we saw three of the biggest trends for the holiday season hit the red carpet—sparkle, lace, and LBD. Hilary Swank (in Elie Saab) and Lea Michele (in Valentino) both went for high shine. “It reminded me most of New Year’s!” Michele said of why she picked her gown. Meanwhile, Katherine Heigl chose a lace design by Dolce & Gabbana, and Sofia Vergara rounded out the holiday theme with a Zac Posen bustier-style LBD. The film hits theaters Friday. McCarthy ultimately took home the win. “Holy smokes,” she said as she took her statue. “Wow, it’s my first and best pageant ever.” After the show, Martha Plimpton admitted it was ultimately her and Poehler’s idea. “The whole point is that we should be up there celebrating each other,” Plimpton told InStyle.com. “If there’s no spontaneity and no fun, then what’s the point?” See what everyone wore on the 2011 Emmys red carpet in the gallery! Runway Looks We Love: Zac Posen

Sep 12, 2011 @ 11:10 am

High glamour ruled the runway for Zac Posen’s Spring 2012 collection. Elizabeth Cole jewelry, custom Charlotte Olympia shoes, and Judith Leiber clutches accessorized the gorgeous gowns on the models, one of whom included longtime friend Coco Rocha (she opened and closed the show). Each look seemed like it could jump right from the catwalk to the red carpet, as gowns with waist-defining silhouettes came in blush, slate, celadon, peony, and dove gray. The cozy New York City space houses Posen’s playful lower-price line, and also carries limited-edition Rod Keenan hats ($195), and rare books ($50 to $140). “The Z Spoke woman is a nerdy woman,” the designer told us of his books-meets-fashion mix at the boutique’s opening bash. ”This is a woman who self-educates.” Z Spoke’s resort collection arrives in two weeks, but in the meantime, there are plenty of flirty party dresses, structured sailor pants and studded blouses stocking the shelves. Click through the gallery to see inside the store!
