Celebrities have been keeping salons busy this year by making serious changes to their trademark styles. Michelle Obama kicked off the new year (and her birthday!) by adding brow-skimming bangs to her look, and was followed by Rihanna‘s shorn side-cut, Reese Witherspoon‘s brunette hue, and most recently, Jennifer Lawrence‘s dramatic chop. With all the ‘dos taking the red carpet, we’re more inspired than ever to change up our styles as well. That’s why we put together a list of every celebrity hair makeover that we loved in 2013—so far! Click the photo to take a before and after look at each style, then head over to our Hollywood Makeover Tool to preview them on yourself before booking a salon appointment.
In February, we reported that Rihanna was working on a makeup collection with MAC, and now the wait is over! Starting Thursday, May 2, the singer will debut her RiRi Woo lipstick online and at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, where ticketholders for her Diamonds World Tour concert can pick up a tube at a pop-up shop. The shade is Rihanna’s take on MAC’s iconic Ruby Woo lipstick, which she remixed by adding a touch of the deep wine tone she favors. The singer will be rolling out additional products with the brand through the year. “The rule about not matching your makeup to your outfit is dated,” she told InStyle previously. “I do that on stage, matching red lipstick to a bright red jacket or neon-pink eye shadow to a pink jumpsuit!” Shop RiRi Woo Thursday, May 2 for $15 at maccosmetics.com.

Rihanna took a daring plunge in a her tailored blazer, which she paired with matching white shorts and cap-toe sneaks. You can snag her Jefferson style jacket from Rag & Bone ($535 at rag-bone.com), or get the look for less with a similar version by Michael Michael Kors ($130 at nordstrom.com). It would also work well over a black tank and dark denim skinnies!

Rihanna‘s “Diamonds World Tour” launched Friday in Buffalo, New York—and to shine bright, she looked to Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci to create her opening looks! Tisci, who counts Rooney Mara, Mila Kunis, and Liv Tyler among his fans, designed a floor-length ruffled silk crepe cape (left), embellished with 3D collar embroidery, for the singer. When she drops that topper, it reveals three pieces underneath (right), including a parka printed with a silver target and stars on its back. “Rihanna represents what young and amazing means today. She is punk and talented. She offers intelligence, energy, and pure beauty,” Tisci said in a statement. “She is the face of her generation.” And that face gets the most special customization: the golden bullets on the cuff of her hood have “RiRi” inscribed on them, and her complete second look is covered in dozens of black Swarvoski crystals. “Like diamonds in the sky,” indeed. It was only two weeks ago that Rihanna debuted herself as a fashion designer for River Island at London Fashion Week, and already, her guest collection for the British brand is in stores today! The pieces are all looks inspired by the star’s style, from neon crop tops to loose maxi dresses to jumpsuits (all priced between $30 and $145), and that makes it all the more authentic. “Every time I saw something on a rack, there was something I wanted to do to it to change it, so I thought the only way I could do that is by designing the perfect thing for me,” Rihanna said in a video taped backstage. Watch the clip above to see Rihanna’s River Island collection, as modeled by girls dancing to “Diamonds,” and shop it—including the 200 limited-edition pieces Rihanna marked with her signature “R” script—now on riverisland.com.

That’s a wrap! Awards season officially came to a close following Sunday night’s Oscars, but we’re already eager to recreate the winning nail looks we’ve spotted. We put together a list of the 25 best manicures from the Golden Globes, Grammys, Oscars, and every ceremony in between! Jessica Alba kicked off the nail game on a high note at the Globes, pairing her citrus-toned dress with a pastel pink lacquer, while Rihanna and Anne Hathaway matched their manis to their couture ensembles. Hathaway in particular has opted for fun and creative designs each time she hit the red carpet—at the Oscars, her pale rose nails were inscribed with the initials of her maternal and paternal grandmothers. Looks like the reigning nail art queen Zooey Deschanel has some competition! Click through for more manicure inspiration.
This awards season the red carpet was filled with many shades of its namesake hue! At the Golden Globes, Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet in a coral organza Dior Haute Couture gown, for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Jessica Chastain chose a figure skimming scarlet Alexander McQueen column, Rihanna picked a vibrant crimson Azzedine Alaïa dress for this year’s Grammys, and at the Academy Awards, Jennifer Aniston donned a strapless gown in classic Valentino Red.
