Usher on Joining The Voice and His ‘Hip-Beast-Meets-Chic’ Style

Usher knows how to make the ladies “Scream,” and not just for his dance-floor hits—it’s his style, too. “It’s Ursher baby!” is how he described his sharp navy suit look at last night’s Pencils of Promise Gala in New York, which celebrated the non-profit’s mission to provide quality education for schools and programs globally. “I could call my style hip-beast-meets-chic, you know what I’m saying?” (Yes. Yes we do.) And we’ll be seeing a lot more of it on The Voice’s spring season, where he’ll be one of the judges replacing CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera’s 180-degree-moving vacant seats. Of what kind of judge he’s going to be, he said: “A great one! I’m a little biased of me, but we can be really great as artists.” He also loves his new pals, Blake Shelton, Shakira, and Adam Levine. “Me and Blake, we got our Country Twang,” he said. “I’ve been learning a lot of Spanish and Portuguese from Shakira, and me and Adam hit it off right on the first day.” That’s enough to make you say ‘yeah,’ and we’re sure Usher would agree.

Usher and Shakira Join The Voice

They want you, Usher and Shakira! NBC announced it will replace coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green with the R&B crooner and Colombian singer/hip-shaker for the spring season of its hit singing competition show, The Voice, due to touring schedules and new projects, EW reports. ”Having award-winning artists as coaches means they need to be able to tour,” executive producer Mark Burnett told EW. “Whether in the red chair or on tour, our coaches have their chairs for life. This is exactly why, after three seasons, we needed to allow them to rotate out so they can get on the road amongst their fans.” This should be interesting! Tell us: Will you tune in?

Katie Holmes Stars in Alicia Keys’ Keep A Child Alive Campaign

A bevy of big-time celebs like Katie Holmes, Kim Kardashian and Usher have joined forces with Alicia Keys and her Keep a Child Alive charity to raise money for people in India and Africa affected by HIV/AIDS. To promote the cause, Keys has launched a new campaign called “Buy Life” which showcases the stars in bar code-emblazoned t-shirts. Keys tells PeopleStyleWatch.com, “With the launch of our Buy Life campaign, I am confident less people will needlessly have to die because of lack of proper care which means more children will still have parents to raise them and guide them. We always love watching MTV’s Video Music Awards for the fashion, music and fun. And this year should be no exception, judging by the list of nominees. Lady Gaga received 13 nominations, including two for Video of the Year—”Bad Romance” and her collaboration with Beyonce, “Telephone”. Eminem was the second-most nominated star, receiving 8 nods of his own. Other potential winners include Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, both for Best Female Video of the Year, as well as tween pop sensation Justin Bieber and his mentor, Usher.
