The LWD (little white dress) is summer’s answer to the LBD, and celebrities love the look. “I’m a big fan of something feminine, but also strong, and I feel like this gets it,” Minka Kelly told InStyle.com of her Z Spoke by Zac Posen lace design at the Veuve Cliquot Polo Classic this month. And other stars agree, including Gabrielle UnionNina Dobrev (in MaxMara), and Lauren Conrad (in Sparkle & Fade for Urban Outfitters top and a Paper Crown skirt). As for tips for how to wear this look with confidence, Kelly offered a few words of wisdom: “As long as you’re comfortable and as long as you’re confident, it will be sexy.” Keep that in mind when getting dressed this weekend!

Urban Outfitters Company to Launch Bridal Store Named Bhldn

Feb 8, 2011 @ 3:28 pm

Urban Outfitters Inc. is expanding into the world of bridal with the launch of Bhldn, its new e-commerce site that sells gowns, bridal accessories and wedding decorations (shown). And the offerings aren’t going to be traditional. Expect dresses to mix elements from Urban Outfitters, its Anthropologie brand, and DIY-style, including some looks with unfinished hems or large taffeta bows, WWD reports. While the site launches next week—on Valentine’s Day February 14th—the company also has plans to open a freestanding store in August (the location has yet to be announced). Bhldn wedding dresses will cost between $1,000 and $4,000. It will also stock other occasion dresses, like for bar and bat mitzvahs and engagement parties, priced between $200 and $600.

Get Rachel Berry’s Adorable Dress for Only $40!

Sep 22, 2010 @ 3:40 pm

We couldn’t take our eyes off of the amazing print dress Lea Michele wore to sing “What I Did for Love” in last night’s season premiere of Glee. The bow-back design, which is part of an Urban Outfitters capsule collection by indie label Pegleg NYC, is now on sale for less than $40 at urbanoutfitters.com. Maybe we can’t match Lea’s pipes, but we can score her stage look. Now, where’s that spotlight?

Anthropologie Debuts Wedding Gowns

Mar 5, 2010 @ 12:00 pm

Wedding bells are ringing for Anthropologie! The brand’s parent company, Urban Outfitters Inc., announced that it will launch a bridal collection featuring heirloom wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, accessories and gifts designed with Anthropologie’s distinctively ethereal, feminine feel (left). The still-unnamed bridal concept launches in Spring 2011 as a Web site, through which brides-to-be can schedule local fittings, before branching into stores. “We have found that many brides-to-be are inspired by our aesthetic,” Anthropologie co-president Wendy B. McDevitt said in a statement. “We will unveil a brand that addresses this very special moment in her life with a goal of exceeding her expectations.” Wedding gowns will retail from $750 to $5000, with occasion and bridesmaid dresses starting at $200.
