The season finale of Revenge had us on the edges of our seats, and we’re still talking about the tragic loss and shocking reveal from last night’s episode. So, who better to give us the inside scoop on the show’s other character—the clothes, the fabulous clothes!—than costume designer Jill Ohanneson? ”I’m a character-based designer, and I also love fashion, so I have to serve the character and what they’re going through first,” Ohanneson told InStyle.com. Her work this season had to stay in line with the dynamic changes experienced by each character, and therefore, she had to alter the wardrobes of Emily Van CampAshley Madekwe, and others to reflect shocking new plotline twists. “In season one, we were trying to find what worked and what defined each character, and we kept it very colorful and bright, but then the show got very dark and dramatic.” In honor of last night’s season finale, click the photo to take a look at how Emily, Ashley, Nolan, and many more have switched up their style.

Revenge’s Costume Designer Hints at What to Expect for Tonight’s Season Finale

May 12, 2013 @ 3:30 pm

Talk about bittersweet: While we’re sad to see another season of Revenge come to an end tonight, we can’t wait to see what happens with Emily (Emily Van Camp) and Daniel’s on-again, off-again engagement, not to mention the plot twists and chic sartorial choices that are sure to come. “It gets a little dark! Some hard and sad things happen,” the show’s costume designer Jill Ohanneson hinted. “A lot of what Emily had to do was very function-oriented, she has a lot going on, so expect her to look a little more casual this time.” Sounds like big things are in store for Emily—as well as Victoria (Madeline Stowe), who somehow manages to keep her outfits looking fantastic, even throughout all the drama. “Madeline has some beautiful outfits that are emotionally interesting for what’s going on in the scene,” she added. Intrigued? Watch the Revenge season finale tonight at 9 p.m. EST on ABC to find out what happens.

Revenge Fashion: Why Costume Designer Jill Ohanneson Loved Emily’s Coral Elie Saab Dress

Mar 25, 2013 @ 5:48 pm

On Revenge last night, Emily (Emily VanCamp) found another person to add to her hit list, Nolan’s (Gabriel Mann) tech nemesis, “The Falcon,” and she did it while wearing a coral Elie Saab dress that made everyone—including costume designer Jill Ohanneson—swoon. “I just loved the color on her. It was unusual for her; she tends to stick to the blues and the beiges. But the moment she put it on, we knew it was the perfect choice for her,” Ohanneson told InStyle.com. “I also really love it for when she meets Daniel (Josh Bowman) and she’s being sympathetic. The color is so warm and the square neckline is so open, it was too perfect emotionally.” Check next week for Ohanneson’s inside scoop on the upcoming episode’s masquerade looks!

Revenge Costume Designer Jill Ohanneson Talks About the One Designer All the Boys Love

Mar 17, 2013 @ 5:00 pm

There’s a new episode of Revenge on tonight! Costume designer Jill Ohanneson already told us that the Hamptons ladies’ love their Michael Kors, Lanvin, and Alaia (thank you very much), but this week, she spilled on the one designer all the boys—including Nolan Ross (Gabriel Mann) and Daniel Grayson (Josh Bowman)—love to wear most: Tommy Hilfiger. “Sometimes Josh will just come into a fitting and say, ‘Jill, I just love what Tommy Hilfiger is doing right now,’” Ohanneson told InStyle.com. “Gabriel, too. He wears a lot of Tommy Hilfiger in his personal life. He has a really great relationship with the designer.” And they’re not alone—Ohanneson loves Hilfiger’s preppy aesthetic, too. “I do really love Tommy Hilfiger’s design. I just met him recently, and I’m very excited because they have a flagship store opening here, which makes it much easier for us to use some of their stuff. I’m hoping to be able to use some of that on both Daniel and Nolan.” No objections here—whatever keeps those boys looking so handsome!

Revenge Last Night: A Pippa Middleton Lookalike Dress Steals the Show

After Revenge costume designer Jill Ohanneson shared with us her all-time favorite costumes, we had to tune in last night to see the latest Hamptons style. And the show didn’t disappoint! Though we always have an eye out for avenger Emily’s (Emily VanCamp) crisp looks, it was Padma’s (Dilshad Vadsaria) feminine, raspberry fit-and-flare dress that kept us glued to the screen last night. And that’s because its bright hue and flattering draping reminded us of one of our favorite looks ever: this Issa dress Pippa Middleton wore to a friend’s wedding, which happens to be the pomegranate version of the sapphire frock her sister, Kate Middleton, wore to announce her royal engagement to Prince William. It’s almost an exact match! To nab the look for yourself, check out the latest incarnation of Issa’s storied frock, a fire-engine red version with faux-wrap detailing, available for $585 at stylebop.com.

Revenge is back tonight! And (spoiler alert!) someone close to Emily (Emily VanCamp) has been killed—not that such an incident will stop her from attending the funeral looking anything less than polished. Because even with all the twists and turns on the Sunday night soap, one thing is constant: Emily, Victoria (Madeleine Stowe), and all the other Hamptons ladies look good. That’s why we caught up with the woman behind their best looks, costume designer Jill Ohanneson, who shared with us her all-time favorite pieces she put on the girls, from Emily’s red-hot Alexander McQueen to Ashley’s (Ashley Madekwe) goddess Balenciaga, to Charlotte’s (Christa B. Allen) sweet Anthropologie find. “There are so many that I love! I have the best job in the world,” Ohanneson told InStyle.com. Can’t say we disagree! Click through to see them all, plus her insider scoop on what makes each look so special. And tune into ABC at 9/8c to see how Emily & Co. work their mourning LBDs for [------]‘s final farewell.

How to Get Ringlet Curls Without a Curling Iron (Hint: It Includes Some Help from Revenge’s Ashley Madekwe, Too!)

Mar 6, 2013 @ 8:10 am

Calling all curly girls: Your beauty routine is getting a touch of Revenge. Last month, we announced that Ashley Madekwe teamed up with Joico and the brand’s artistic director Damien Carney for the “Drab to Fab” hair makeover web series, where she gave real girls style tips to match their recently made-over hair, and now we’re revealing the first installment exclusively on InStyle.com. To kick off the series, Carney and Madekwe gave their model buoyant ringlets with a retro edge. Although the dynamic texture makes a big statement, it was done sans curling irons. Rather, Carney formed the defined curls using just Joico’s K-Pak Color Therapy Oil ($16), the K-Pak Protect and Shine Serum ($14; joico.com for locations), and a dryer with a diffuser attachment. Get the complete step-by-step breakdown in the video above.
