Louise Roe Tells InStyle All About Her Finale Fashion Star Outfit, Week 10

May 10, 2013 @ 5:35 pm

It’s the grand finale of Fashion Star tonight—I can’t believe the show has flown by so fast! I wanted a true show-stopper to go out with a bang, so I looked at the Falguni & Shane Peacock collection. This Indian-based designer shows at New York Fashion Week and always works with crazy shapes, silhouettes, and textures. I just had to try on this gown after seeing the awesome architectural detail on the neck and hips. On my feet, I went for super high, sparkly silver Jimmy Choo platforms, and a diamond cuff by Carolee. Gothic black nails, and a moody smoky eye—I was ready to rock our show’s most dramatic episode.

Watch Mariah Carey’s #Beautiful New Video

May 10, 2013 @ 1:05 pm

Did you catch the premiere of Mariah Carey‘s latest single on American Idol last night? Mimi’s “#Beautiful” track is the first off of her forthcoming 2013 album, and the video features the diva—clad in a trendy cutout bikini—hitching a motorcycle ride with R&B singer Miguel. The feeling of the video hearkens back to her ’90s Mariah videos, complete with must-have Mariah elements like perfectly-hitting sunlight (like “Honey”), belly-baring tops (like “Always Be My Baby”), and spaghetti strap tank dresses (like “Butterfly”). ”I feel like this is the first record I’ve ever released that’s simmering and bubbling up,” she said in a video for The Grammys YouTube channel. “It’s a feel-good record. It’s genre-less. It’s not following a trend.” Get your Mariah fix by watching the video above.

The Hangover boys Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, and Ed Helms had the nation in stitches after their hilarious impersonations of Jennifer Aniston—and her famous hair!—for the Jennifer Aniston Look-alike Competition skit on Saturday Night Live last week. So, when we caught up with the superstar at the launch for her Living Proof’s new web series, we had to find out what she thought of their work. “I thought it was very funny,” Aniston told InStyle.com. “I’ve never been imitated before. I remember watching and going, ‘Is that what I do? Do I do that?’ It was hysterical.” Scroll down to watch the skit and laugh along.  More

Costume Designer Insider: Olivia Pope’s Subtle Clothing Cues on Scandal

May 9, 2013 @ 2:00 pm
ScandalABC/Nicole Wilder

The hunt for the White House mole continues and—more importantly!—Olivia (Kerry Washington) and Fitz’s (Tony Goldwyn) relationship is about to get real on this week’s all-new episode of ABC’s hit political drama Scandal. With so many heavy situations at hand, costume designer Lyn Paolo reflected the plotline by using subtle cues when dressing Washington. “We used darker tones in [Olivia’s] costume to reflect the dark undertones of her soon-to-be-made decisions,” Paolo told InStyle.com. Case in point: The outfit shown here, which includes a navy blue Christian Dior satin jacket, pale pink Ferragamo coat, tan Prada purse, and light gray Armani pants. “Olivia is torn, should Fitz give up everything for her, will it work, how can they be together without destroying his Presidency?” added Paolo. We can’t wait to watch what happens as things heat up! Tune in to Scandal tonight at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.

Shakira’s Look on The Voice Live Rounds: All the Details

May 7, 2013 @ 5:45 pm

The Voice live rounds premiered last night! We’re obsessing over the chemistry of the new judges, especially Shakira‘s sassy Latin flavor, which is why we caught up with her beauty team to get the download on last night’s look. Hairstylist Kimberly Kimble opted to give the star loose waves. “I wanted her to look soft and polished,” Kimble told InStyle.com. “We had done this look a few weeks ago and Shakira wanted to go for it again, and it paired really well with her outfit.” Clad in black leather shorts from Thakoon, a knitted top from IRO, and a chunky statement necklace from Philipp Plein, Shakira completed the look with soft pinks on cheeks and lips. (Girl crush alert: She does her own makeup for the show!). Want more inside scoop? Stay tuned all season to find out all the details about Shakira’s looks for The Voice.
