Glee Tonight: Lea Michele and Kate Hudson Have An Epic Dance-Off

Dec 6, 2012 @ 5:00 pm

Kate Hudson is back on Glee tonight, as hardcore dance instructor Cassandra July to Lea Michele‘s Rachel Berry! On the episode, titled “Swan Song,” Rachel’s newfound confidence in class sparks Cassandra to challenge her to a dance-off. The two battle it out, singing “All that Jazz” from the musical Chicago (watch it above!), and while their characters might be engaging in some friendly dance-combat on-screen, Hudson revealed to InStyle.com that off-screen, it’s all fun. “Lea and I have a great time together! It’s fun when we get to do our numbers,” Hudson told InStyle.com at the Almay Smart Shade and Intense-i launch in New York. “She has such a talented voice—it’s pretty amazing. Every time I hear her sing I’m like, ‘What a beautiful gift she has.’” Get a sneak peek of tonight’s episode by watching the video above, and be sure to tune into Glee tonight FOX tonight at 9/8c.

Glee’s Chris Colfer on Holiday Shopping: “I Never Remember to Get Gifts for the Cast”

Nov 30, 2012 @ 11:15 am

As Kurt on GleeChris Colfer has a knack for singing, drama, and that envy-worthy bouffant. But in real life, his gift-giving skills need some work! “I never remember to get gifts for my cast members,” Colfer (in a Dior shirt and Bally tie) told InStyle.com at the HFPA and InStyle Miss Golden Globe party in Los Angeles last night. ”They always get me things, but I never remember. I’m such a horrible person. Maybe this year I’ll remember!“ We’re hoping that maybe talking to us inspired him to make a mental note to shop for Lea Michele (in Valentino), Darren Criss, and the rest of the McKinley High School gang. At least he knows what he’ll get them when/if he makes time to go: “I always like getting gag gifts for people,” he said. Who knew he was such a trickster?

On tonight’s all-new episode of Glee, the cast will be recreating scenes and performing songs from Grease. We caught up with Darren Criss at Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Tie The Knot launch party last night to get his take on the “Glease” episode. “It’s definitely a new favorite,” Criss told InStyle.com. “If you’re a Grease fan, you’re going to love it. If you don’t know anything about Grease, you’re going to want to watch Grease.” Sounds (and looks) like viewers are in for a ride (note the “Greased Lighting” preview above). This week will also see the return of Kate Hudson as Lea Michele’s dance instructor, Cassandra July. Hudson, along with Naya Rivera and newcomer Alex Newell, will be singing “There Are Worse Things I Could Do,” and Criss can’t get enough of it. “It’s so good. It’s wonderful!” he said. So, grab your hair gel, leather pants, and poodle skirts—this screams sing-along. Glee‘s “Glease” episode airs tonight at 9/8c on FOX.

After a #heartbreaking hiatus, Glee is back with an all-new episode tonight! Finn (Cory Monteith), fresh off his split with Rachel (Lea Michele), is back at McKinley High not as a student, but as co-director of this year’s musical, Grease. When Finn starts having doubts about his new role, Artie (Kevin McHale) calls on McKinley alums Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Mike Chang (Harry Shum Jr.) to lend a hand. And best of all, Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) is back harassing students and teachers alike. She directs her wrath at Finn: “William, maybe you should remind Chubby-Wan Kenobi the daily nightmare that is born of being my enemy.” Hopefully, he can stay on her good side! Tune in to FOX tonight at 9/8c to see the Glee cast perform songs from the musical. If you can’t wait to hear their versions of Grease’s hit songs, you can buy the show’s Glease album now.

Glee Returns November 4: Ryan Murphy on What to Expect

Oct 22, 2012 @ 5:30 pm

Glee fans across the nation have been bemoaning the fact that the show has taken a month-long forced hiatus because of inconsequential things like baseball and the presidential debates—so when we saw series creator Ryan Murphy at the Golden Hearts Gala in New York, we had to ask him why he devastated fans even further with the #heartbreaking episode from a couple of weeks ago, which saw Rachel and Finn part ways. “To me that episode was really special,” Murphy told InStyle.com. “It was about this group of people who we’ve followed for three years in many ways making the transition from kids to adults. I didn’t feel it was realistic that all of them would hang on to the same high school relationships.” But will Finn and Rachel stay apart forever? “I think when we come back [from hiatus] we continue to explore those breakups, and some of those people get back together and have happy endings,” Murphy said. “Of course, some of them don’t.” Such a tease! Tune into FOX on November 4 at 9 p.m. EST to see more (or possibly less) #heartbreak!

Poll: Are the Presidential Debates and Baseball Interfering With Your Favorite Shows?

Oct 18, 2012 @ 2:25 pm

The powers that be our messing with our favorite primetime shows! America’s favorite pastime, baseball, and this little thing called the Presidential election keep bumping around the lineup. Last night, The X Factor went to a commercial break and never returned thanks to a baseball rain delay, leaving only 10 out of the 16 final contestants announced to the dismay of many fans—us included. (The show is supposed to return next week, and bump out new episodes of the New Girl and The Mindy Project!) Plus, Glee went on a forced month-long hiatus, not to return until November 4th. “I had nothing to do with it,” Ryan Murphy told InStyle.com at this week’s Golden Hearts Awards. “People think I control the schedule or something. I would like to take this opportunity to say I fought it.” So, we want to know: Are you upset that your shows have been rescheduled?

Sarah Jessica Parker’s Glee Makeup!

Sep 28, 2012 @ 1:11 pm

In addition to loving her song-and-dance number on last night’s episode of Glee, we’re also obsessing over Sarah Jessica Parker‘s flawless face. We caught up with Elaine Offers, the makeup artist behind the star’s beauty for the show, to get all the details. Offers wanted to create a timelessly sexy yet subtle rock-and-roll look for Parker. “When it comes to her beauty routine, [her character] is minimalistic,” she told InStyle.com, which meant “a signature smoky eye that she throws on in a minute, a pinch of rosiness in her cheeks, and a touch of gloss for shine.” To get the look, Offers suggests starting with a light foundation and a touch of creamy peach blush on the apples of the cheeks for a flushed look. Then, to achieve the glossy pink lip, Offers lightly applied Dior Addict Lip Maximizer High Volume Lip Plumper ($30, dior.com) for moisture and shine. To define Parker’s eyes, she lined the lids with Laura Mercier’s Caviar Stick Eye Colour in “Jungle” ($24, lauramercier.com) and finished with two generous coats of black mascara. As far as getting SJP’s vocal chops, you’re on your own…
