First Look: Oz the Great and Powerful

Jul 13, 2012 @ 3:00 pm

Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, Mila Kunis, and James Franco aren’t in Kansas anymore! The first teaser trailer for Oz: The Great and Powerful, the prequel to The Wizard of Oz, debuted at Comic Con this week, and audiences got a glimpse of Franco as a circus magician who gets blown into a magical land, where he reinvents himself as the famous Wizard. Along the way he meets a trio of witches—Theodora, the future Wicked Witch of the West (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz), and Glinda the Good Witch (Michelle Williams)—who may not be convinced he’s so great and powerful after all. Anna Karenina Trailer: Costumes, Keira, and More!

Jun 21, 2012 @ 12:30 pm

No one works period costuming quite like Keira Knightley! The actress re-teamed with her Pride & Prejudice and Atonement director Joe Wright for another ball gown-filled literary classic-turned-film, Leo Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina, and the trailer just came out! As the titular Anna, a 19th-century Russian socialite who marries to please her family and scandalously falls in love with another man shortly after, Knightley is dressed to impress in satin gowns, strings upon strings of pearls, and tons of fur fit for the sub-zero climate. Each look is the work of costume designer Jacqueline Durran, the same woman behind the extravagant wardrobing details of Pride & Prejudice and Atonement. Watch the full clip above! Tell us: Do you plan on seeing it? Anna Karenina, which also stars Jude Law and Aaron Johnson (of Kick-Ass fame), debuts in theaters this November.

Les Miserables Trailer: Hear Anne Hathaway Sing

May 30, 2012 @ 2:00 pm

Your first look at Les Miserables is here! The epic Broadway hit is taking its turn on the big screen come December, with The King Speech’s Tom Hooper directing a star-studded cast. Anne Hathaway as Fantine is the main focus of this short trailer, with the actress belting out the story’s signature ballad “I Dreamed a Dream.” Coming from Anne, the tune is raw and emotional—as is seeing her signature long locks get chopped off on-screen (fast forward to 1:03). We also get glimpses of the rest of the Hollywood cast as French revolutionaries, including Hugh Jackman as Jean Valjean, Russell Crowe as Javert, Amanda Seyfried as Cosette, and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thénardier. Watch the clip above and tell us: Do you think the film will live up to the musical?
