Tory Burch honed in on a classic love story for her fall 2012 collection—fitting, as she showed her new lineup on Valentine’s Day. “It was the idea of this prim and polished girl that was interested in the wrong guy,” she told InStyle.com. “She’s sexy, but not overtly, not really knowing she’s sexy.” To bring this story to life through fashion, Burch produced more structured and fitted silhouettes, like pencil skirts, skinny pants, ruched dresses, and tops appliquéd with 3D tulle. Her always sought-after accessories included boxy bags, clutches with brooch-like floral embellishments, T-strap and spectator shoes with high, skinny heels, and floral drop earrings. After hitting the J.Crew, Rodarte, and Vera Wang fashion shows, our InStyle September cover girl stopped by the opening of Tory Burch’s new flagship store in Manhattan. “I’m just here to support,” the singer (wearing a sexy leather and chiffon Michael Kors gown) said before meeting up with the designer herself inside. For her Spring 2012 collection, Tory Burch embraced the Gatsby girl and showed a modern take on 1920s dressing. Drop-waist dresses, bow blouses and tweed jackets decorated the runway, as well as breezy gowns in seafoam, blush and coral. For accessories, Burch showcased whimsical woven bags and dainty MaryJanes in both a low-heeled version and a sexy sky-high style, as well as raffia flatforms that looked chic and comfy.
