Ashley Madekwe’s Revenge Style: Her Red Gucci Coat

Apr 26, 2012 @ 4:30 pm

An all-new episode of Revenge aired last night, and we caught up Ashley Madekwe to get the inside scoop on her outfit. “We had the misfortune of trying to shoot winter scenes during spring in L.A. when there were very few coats left in stores, but we managed to snag this gorgeous Gucci number,” she told InStyle.com.  And what was underneath? “I’m wearing a grey wool Theory dress and the Burberry ankle boots that have been with me since the pilot. We felt the outfit was looking a little conservative so we added some sass with a pair of plaid Rag & Bone gloves.” Nice touch! Shop the patch pocket coat—which retails for $2,400—on gucci.com, and see more of Ashley’s Revenge style in the gallery.

Olivier Theyskens Takes Over at Theory

Oct 25, 2010 @ 12:20 pm

Best known for his work at major French houses Rochas and Nina Ricci, the supremely talented Olivier Theyskens has now been named creative director at the decidedly all-American Theory. You may recall that the Belgian designer also has a capsule collection for the label, Olivier Theyskens for Theory. While he will continue that line, now Olivier will take the reigns at Theory overall as well. His first collection, according to WWD, is expected next season. We can’t wait to see how his darkly romantic signature translates into sleek, contemporary workwear.

Theory has challenged three stylists from their Fashion Insiders campaign—J. Errico, Dani Stahl and Annabel Tollman (pictured left to right)—to compete in a fashion battle to benefit the charity of their choice. The concept is simple: Each stylist must use pieces from the brand’s new summer collection to create three unique looks. The winner will be announced on July 10th and receive $2,500 for charity. (Tollman is competing for OXFAM America, J. Errico is representing the Hetrick-Martin Institute, and Stahl is vying for the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons.) See all the looks in our gallery, get some summer style inspiration, then vote for your favorite on Theory’s Facebook page. Or, if you’re in Hamptons this weekend, head over to the East Hampton Theory store, where you can enter to win a $750 gift card when you cast your vote.

Theory Taps Olivier Theyskens For Capsule Collection

May 27, 2010 @ 10:52 am

Oliver Theyskens is finally ready for his comeback: His first gig since leaving Nina Ricci—where his collections were critically-acclaimed if not always commercially successful—is with department store staple Theory, for whom he’ll design a capsule collection timed to debut in the spring of 2011. The Belgian designer, who first gained international notice as the creative director of Rochas, has a flair for creating fresh red carpet looks: The canary yellow Nina Ricci Reese Witherspoon wore to the 2007 Golden Globes is still a classic. So we can’t wait to see what he does for Theory, which is better known for office-ready basics than gala-worthy gowns. Stay tuned for more details!

Apr 21, 2010 @ 4:30 pm

Rashida Jones is the first guest stylist for Theory’s newly-launched Fashion Insider: Stylecause, an initiative that invites stars to style looks for a good cause. The Parks & Recreation actress styled three summer-friendly looks, all built around the versatile Bindi TS blazer. She paired the jacket with adorable checkered shorts (left), a chic belted shirtdress and a gingham shirt with rolled-up shorts. The pieces will be available at Theory stores and their Web site for the next four weeks with 10% of the sales benefiting Rashida’s favorite charities, Peace First and Children Mending Hearts.
