Last night, Emily Maynard handed out her first 25 roses on The Bachelorette in a $6,300 sequin-covered Jean Fares Couture gown, and we talked to the 26-year-old single mom about how she chose her first look. “Anyone who knows me knows how excited I get over any kind of sparkles or sequins, so the day I showed up at stylist Cary Fetman’s house, I thought I had died and gone to heaven!“ Maynard told InStyle.com exclusively. “He had racks and racks of some of the most amazing dresses I have ever seen. We tried on clothes for hours, and I absolutely love the Jean Fares Couture dress I wore on the first night.” The one shoulder blush chiffon gown featured an ombre design of silver, pink, rust and rose sequins. When Emily Maynard begins her quest for love on The Bachelorette on May 14th, we’re sure to see her going on many dates in many dresses. “This is a girl who sees a sequined, shiny gown, and the world stops!” The Bachelor stylist Cary Fetman told InStyle.com. “She’s a typical Southern girl who loves to be glamorous.” When Maynard tried on clothes at the beginning of the season, she fell in love with this dusty pink Jean Fares Couture gown (worn with an eight-carat rose sapphire Michael M Collection ring). ”Emily wanted it to be an important dress,” Fetman said. “It was too big to be a ‘first night gown’ because guys wouldn’t be able to get close to her, and it wouldn’t have worked for the finale because it was too stiff. Trista Sutter—reality TV’s first Bachelorette—always loved shopping for baby clothing, even before she had her two children, Max, 4, and Blakesley Grace, 2. So when Jessica Wiswall, founder of Vintage Couture, approached her to design a line of kids’ clothing and accessories, she jumped at the chance. Sutter’s sixth collection, Blushing Paisley, just launched, and as the name suggests, there’s a lot of the whimsical droplet pattern. “I’m such a girlie girl—I love ruffles, polka dots and bows,” Sutter told InStyle.com. “When I design, I think about what my daughter would want to wear. It’s all about the details.” A portion of the proceeds from the collection will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation—an organization important to both women.
