First Look: Thakoon for NARS Nail Polish Collection

Apr 6, 2012 @ 12:35 pm

Francois Nars and designer Thakoon Panichgul—whose fans include Rachel Bilson, Jessica Alba and Michelle Obama—are frequent collaborators, working together during New York Fashion Week. This season they’ve developed a limited-edition, six-color nail polish collection, making it the first nail collaboration NARS has ever done with a fashion designer. Inspired by the vibrant colors found in Indian Spice Markets, each shade is named after a spice or medicinal plant, including Koliary (cyan blue) and Anardana (azalea pink). The high-gloss hues are long-wearing, chip-resistant, formaldehyde-free and come in eye-popping brights just right for spring. Click through the gallery to preview the entire collection now, and shop them for $18 each at narscosmetics.com starting May 1st.

Celebrity Trend: The Contrast Belt

Easy outfit idea: Break up a monotone look with a bold belt in a different color. This month, Nicole Richie added a patterned style to her sunny Thakoon look, Mila Kunis toughened up a blush pink Dior dress with black leather, Reese Witherspoon reversed hers so the buckle showed in the back, and Kim Kardashian lightened her berry dress with a printed addition. Remember, when shopping for the accessory, stock up on a few different styles. Treat the dress underneath as just the foundation. See more celebrity belt inspiration in the gallery now.

Thakoon’s Limited-Edition Scarf for Charity

Aug 18, 2011 @ 2:30 pm

In addition to dressing numerous celebs, from Sienna Miller to Liv Tyler, New York designer Thakoon Panichgul also turns his attention to charity. This month, he launched the limited-edition Masai blue and red plaid scarf, and will donate 100% of proceeds to UNICEF to benefit children dealing with famine and devastation in the Horn of Africa, especially Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. “I know we have a lot of problems out there, but this one involves lives, especially children’s lives,” Panichgul told InStyle.com. “It’s something we can all prevent, and we all should. We all should be a little bit more aware of the world we live in, of people.” Scoop up the lightweight wool scarf at Thakoon.com for $250, and watch the scarf in action in the video below. More
