The fiercest women in tennis have overtaken the borough of Queens for the US Open Tennis Championships, and we’re keeping a close eye on the looks the ladies chose for the competition! Serena Williams and Russia’s Maria Sharapova (when she’s not too busy launching her own candy line, Sugarpova) stepped onto the courts in feminine pink hues, while neon made a strong showing across the board, like on American Maria Sanchez. Click through the gallery to see more of this year’s outfits, and stay tuned to see more looks as the competition progresses, from now through September 9th.

Maria Sharapova loves fashion on and off the court! So when we caught up with the silver-medal Olympic tennis player at the launch of her Sugarpova candy collection earlier this week, we asked her to tell us all about the U.S. Open looks she’s planning for the upcoming championships (August 27th through September 9th). “The process starts so far in advance, just like everything in fashion,” she said. Like the past few years, she has two Nike-created options for the tournament: “I have a day dress that’s a light pink color, and then a darker shade going into the night.” As for her favorite look ever, shown above center, it was inspired by a classic: “It had an Audrey Hepburn headline—it was so sweet!” And we bet it’s extra memorable because she won the Grand Slam title that year, too! Click through to see more of Maria’s best U.S. Open looks. And visit usopen.org to stream her next match!

Nail Art: Serena Williams’s Floral Manicure at Wimbledon

Jul 10, 2012 @ 4:30 pm

Ever the manicure enthusiast, Serena Williams is always serving up fun nail art, and her talons at Wimbledon were no exception! The tennis star, who previously created her own lacquers with OPI, opted for a nude manicure with floral detail on her ring finger. We love how the design looks intricate, but is surprisingly easy to recreate. All you need are two nail polishes with ultra-fine brushes, like Orly’s Instant Artist lacquers ($5 each; orlybeauty.com). Make like Williams and paint a red and white pattern over a tawny base, or jump on the neon trend with high-impact hues like hot pink, or bold yellow. Since the nail art is concentrated on just one finger, you can play with different colors and patterns without having the overall effect appear busy. Now that’s a winning manicure!

Pippa Middleton Goes to Wimbledon in Orla Kiely

Jun 28, 2012 @ 11:40 am

She’s back! After almost a month out of the spotlight, Pippa Middleton returned to high visibility by taking a courtside seat at the Wimbledon Championships in London. To watch a match, the sports-loving royal-in-law wore a navy skirt and a buttoned-up macrame jacket by Irish designer Orla Kiely, a brand her older sister Catherine also wears (remember the brown bird print dress?). Score the same style as Pippa for $205 (down from $410) at orlakiely.com.
