We heard Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” hit more times than we really needed to this summer—but that’s OK because we maybe liked it (OK, OK, it’s catchy!). And as she gears up to release her first album, we’re taking a closer look at this Canadian starlet’s style. Her look in one word is quirky, and she uses her accessories to express her pop persona. From neon-tipped loafers to a chainlink vest to a fruit-friendly Kate Spade clutch (shop it for $239 on neimanmarcus.com)—click through the gallery to see her most interesting accessories to date, no maybe about it.

While Carly Rae Jepsen’s breakout hit “Call Me Maybe” has become the definitive song of summer 2012, we’re calling her makeup from the Teen Choice Awards just plain gorgeous. We love how her graphic smoky eye is balanced by her clean, dewy complexion. “I always love for skin to glow! The best way to achieve that is to start with good skin prep,” said the star’s makeup artist Desirae Cherman, who spritzed Jepsen’s face with Jurlique Lavender Hydrating Mist. The product moisturizes and adds balance to the skin, creating a smooth surface to apply foundation. Pick up the mist for $31 at jurlique.com and see more Daily Beauty Tips in our gallery!
The high ponytail Demi Lovato wore to host the Teen Choice Awards had some high-fashion inspiration—straight off the runway of Jason Wu’s fall 2012 show. While Lovato’s avant-garde style is suited for the red carpet (and for showing off extensions), you can recreate the look in a more everyday version by shortening the length of the pony wrap. To start, use the natural line of your cheekbone as a guide when sweeping straight, glossy strands back. If in doubt, aim higher. Tie off the style with an elastic, then wrap a black bandeau headband around the ponytail to create the same effect (try L.Erickson’s style for $16 at franceluxe.com). But be sure not to secure hair too tightly—a super-taut pony stresses hair follicles, which can lead to breakage.

From Nina Dobrev’s pretty plait, to the lipsticks Kat Graham and Selena Gomez matched to their dresses, there was no shortage of fun beauty looks at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards. See our top ten hair, makeup, and manicure moments from the show in the gallery.
No Doubt is back—and in a big way! The group performed their new hit “Settle Down” at the Teen Choice Awards, with Gwen Stefani’s signature red lip taking center stage. If you want to create a similar look, make like the singer and layer your products for extra staying power. “I start with a matte lipstick that’s really dry, then I put a more moist, creamy lipstick on top,” the star once told InStyle. “And my trick for not getting it on my teeth? Be really careful!” Get started by picking up L’Oreal’s Infallible Lip Gloss in Red Fatale ($10; lorealparisusa.com), which Stefani used for the “Settle Down” music video.

What’s more fun than the Teen Choice Awards red carpet dresses? The backstage shots! Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (in a Roberto Cavalli jacket) made a rare red carpet appearance together, Glee‘s Chris Colfer got close to Victoria Justice, and Taylor Swift (in Maria Lucia Hohan) caught up with Zac Efron, before taking to Twitter to share her excitement. “5 Teen Choice Awards?! I’m so happy I’m so happy I’m so happy I’m so happy I’m so happy– thank you so much for voting!” she wrote. See more 2012 Teen Choice Awards photos in the gallery!
It’s the week of cobalt dresses! Blake Lively kicked off the cobalt blue fashion show on Tuesday when she filmed Gossip Girl wearing a handkerchief style dress by Marc by Marc Jacobs (shop it at marcjacobs.com for $398). Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge followed two days later in a Stella McCartney shift, Lea Michele picked Oscar de la Renta on Friday, and Zooey Deschanel chose the hue when she wore Monique Lhuillier to last night’s Teen Choice Awards. ”Fans of blue tend to be quiet and conservative,” Kate Smith, the expert behind sensationalcolor.com, told InStyle recently. “But those drawn to the brighter cobalt shades speak their minds when necessary.” Intriguing! When going with monochromatic cobalt, avoid frills in favor of clean, sleek lines, and pair the eye-catching shade with neutrals like nude, white, and black (notice Kate, Lea, and Zooey’s heels). For a more emphatic statement, combine cobalt with a bright opposite, like Blake did with her strappy coral heels.
