Jennifer Hudson’s Super Bowl Outfit: Why She Wore It

Feb 6, 2013 @ 1:08 pm

Celebrity stylist Eric Archibald had an important goal in mind when he prepped Jennifer Hudson for her big pre-game performance of “America the Beautiful” with the Sandy Hook Elementary School survivors. “Jennifer wanted simple and classic,” Eric said in a statement. “She herself has overcome great tragedy and it was all about paying respect to the moment.” Archibald used the simple black-and-white Monika Chiang, L’Wren Scott, and Saint Laurent outfit to “highlight the emotional tones” of the performance, with one exception: the bright green ribbon Hudson wore to commemorate the December school shooting that claimed 26 young lives. “Little children being survivors like that…that’s the part that took me back in,” Hudson said. “They are conquerors, they are survivors. And they’re babies.”

Beyonce’s Super Bowl Manicure: You Can Wear Her Gold Nails!

Feb 4, 2013 @ 5:27 pm

It was hard not to notice Beyoncé’s solid gold manicure when she asked the 108.4 million viewers of the Super Bowl to “put a ring on it” during her epic halftime performance. And those nails kept shining thanks to some careful planning from her manicurist Lisa Logan. “The process was very time-consuming,” said Logan, who flew to New Orleans a week early to prep the nails with the Gold and Matte Gold Chevrons decal by Minx for Bey and her team of 10 dancers. “All the dancers had to be wearing the same design. Because their nails were so long, I needed to use two Minx templates to cover each tip!” The gold design was used to film the holographic portion of Knowles’s show, and thanks to the long-wear ability, Beyoncé was able to wear the manicure through the week with no touch-ups needed on game day. The same decal Bey wore is available in salons; head to minxnails.com to find a Minx pro near you.

Beyonce’s Gorgeous Super Bowl Hairstyle: Details From Her Colorist!

Feb 4, 2013 @ 12:45 pm

Beyoncé‘s Super Bowl performance was nothing short of show-stopping—literally, there was a blackout—and her hair was nothing short of flawless, even with gale-force wind effects stirring. Before she hit the 50-yard-line, she got some super bold highlights courtesy of colorist Rita Hazan, and we got all the details. “Beyoncé has been rocking a deep side part and I love it!” Hazan told InStyle.com exclusively. “We made her highlights more stripey and lighter, a light golden blond, but still natural-looking to complement her hairstyle.” Mission accomplished! If you’re opting for solid gold highlights like Beyoncé, keep your natural undertones in mind before committing to a color. Better yet, bring a picture to the salon to ensure your colorist gets the shade just right.

Beyoncé’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Costume: Sketch to Reality

Feb 3, 2013 @ 9:25 pm

When Beyoncé took over the stage for tonight’s Super Bowl XLVII halftime show, she was wearing Proenza Schouler booties and a black leather and lace number created by designer Rubin SingerThe two sat down (along with Bey’s longtime stylist Ty Hunter) shortly after Thanksgiving to start working on the star’s halftime costume, which was inspired by the Valkyries in Norse mythology. The mythical creatures were strong female figures who decided which soldiers lived and died in battleaccording to a statement by the designer, “A woman with power, focus, and unbridled sexuality; not unlike Ms. Knowles herself, was the starting point.” Check out Singer’s original sketch, and how Queen Bey brought it to life on tonight’s stage at rightand tell us what you think!
