How to Pick the Perfect Bronzer

Apr 8, 2012 @ 1:00 pm

Nothing channels a summery state of mind like a sun-kissed complexion. A quick sweep of bronzer warms up the skin, and creates a flawless canvas like Jennifer Lopez‘s or Jennifer Aniston‘s. Like foundation, it evens out your skin tone and masks imperfections in a warm veil of luminosity. Find out how to create a natural bronzy glow, and how to pick your perfect color in the gallery.

Anna Faris Reveals the Secret to Her Enviable Glow

Mar 29, 2012 @ 4:35 pm

Anna Faris‘s complexion gives us serious skin envy, so when we caught up with the actress, who recently partnered with Jergens for their Places You Glow campaign, we had to get the details on her skincare routine. Her first step? A good SPF! “I wish I had started using sun protection earlier! I always forget, so moisturizers with SPF are perfect for me,” the actress told InStyle.com. I used to tan, but started using the Jergens Natural Glow & Protect lotion ($9; drugstore.com). An actress I worked with turned me on to the original product years ago.” While she begins the day layering her products, she’s equally dedicated to stripping them away after a long day. “I’m really diligent about taking off my makeup at night, especially after filming. I use a light cleanser followed by Lancome’s Bi-Facil ($27; lancome-usa.com) over my eyes,” Faris said. Click through the gallery for more celebrity-inspired skincare tips!

Fake Your Way to Toned Legs

May 6, 2010 @ 4:53 pm

If you don’t have time to hit the gym but want legs as amazing as Jennifer Lopez‘s, try skin-highlighting makeup. “Legs look leaner and more toned when they have a bit of a glow,” says N.Y.C. makeup artist Linda Hay, who suggests exfoliating weekly for a smooth base. A gradual tanner can add a hint of color over time, but if you want instant results, go with bronzing lotion like Scott Barnes’s Body Bling (pictured, $38 at scottbarnes.com). Apply in a circular motion to prevent streaking. To create the illusion of slimmer legs, dab a touch of highlighter down the center of each leg, blending well to ensure a natural effect.

VS Model: How To Look Beach Sexy

Mar 25, 2010 @ 3:00 pm

Just in time for bikini season (and the latest crop from Victoria’s Secret swim), supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio gave us some pointers on how to look and feel your sexiest at the beach. “Find a swimsuit where you can mix and match the bottom and top sizes to get a perfect fit,” advises Ambrosio (check out the Bikini Mixer video of her fellow VS model Miranda Kerr, doing just that). “Always apply self-tanner before hitting the beach to give you a bit of color and glow without any negative effects,” says Ambrosio, who uses Victoria’s Secret Beach Sexy Sunkissed Bronze. “Keep your makeup natural with sun-kissed cheeks and a swipe of lip gloss—it’s all you need. I also like to put some leave-in conditioner when I’m out in the sun, but most importantly have fun! It’s all about enjoying yourself.” Click on to see Alessandra’s top five bikini picks for the season.

Why Jane Krawkowski Swears By Self-Tanner

Mar 25, 2010 @ 2:44 pm

Just because you know her as the curly-haired, fair funny girl from 30 Rock, doesn’t mean Jane Krakowski doesn’t appreciate a healthy glow. In fact, the star revealed to us this week that she used to be a sun-worshiper. “Back in the day, tanning seemed important.  We’d use baby oil—my family even had one of those ray reflecting silver blankets!” she confessed.  Krakowski, now a spokesperson for Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer, has since mended her ways. “Signs of premature aging really made me want to take better care of my skin,” she said. Now I wear SPF every day.” We couldn’t help wondering, does this mean she’ll be hitting the spray tan booth before heading down the isle? Krakowski stayed mum: “I think every bride has a natural radiance all their own on their special day!”

Get more sun tips from Krakowski—and feel good about doing it. Each time her video is viewed, Jergens will donate $1 to the Skin Cancer Foundation!

Twitter Beauty Q&A: Sunless Tanner

Mar 3, 2010 @ 3:51 pm

@ATLClaire said: Need suggestions for gradual self-tanner! I [want] to avoid tanning beds and too much [sun] but need color!

Want to glow like Jessica Alba? We just found out the star is a fan of spray-tanning, and we’re so happy to hear that our readers are avoiding tanning beds, too.  For a gradual tan, look for Jergens Natural Glow Express ($8.99). This creamy, non-smelly formula is hard to mess up and neither unnoticeably subtle nor overly pumpkin, like some of the other formulas we’ve tried. After exfoliating in the shower, apply it just like you would your normal body moisturizer. You’ll get natural-looking, un-streaky color in just a few hours. If you want more glow, just keep using it each day.  (Just be sure to rinse your palms afterwards.) Happy faux tanning, and keep Tweeting your beauty questions!
