Solange Knowles on Her Style: ‘Comfort is Definitely Key’

How has Solange Knowles, mother of 7-year-old Juelz and aunt to Blue Ivy Carter, adapted her everyday style since becoming a mom? “Comfort is becoming of real importance to me,” she told InStyle.com last night, at a “Shop Spring” party held at Stuart Weitzman‘s boutique in New York City. “I find that the older my son gets, the more we have on our schedule, versus when they’re babies you’re kind of just going for walks and things like that,” she said. “Now there are soccer practices and piano lessons and playdates and sleepovers and birthdays—comfort is definitely key,” the DJ added. Solange Knowles on Babysitting Blue Ivy Carter

Beyoncé’s Maternity Style Tips From Sister Solange

Aunt-to-be Solange Knowles loves to play stylist for her sister Beyonc é, and it’s even more fun now that Bey has a baby bump! “I go straight to net-a-porter.com and I copy and paste URLs and send them her way,” Solange told InStyle.com at a Beverly Hills bash for Burberry’s latest scent, Burberry Body. “We also go shopping together. She’s getting bigger. It’s so fun when you’re actually really showing and you’re able to showcase that.” And motherhood hasn’t changed Beyoncé‘s look, Solange assured. “Her style is the same,” she said. “Wonderfully glamorous.”

Solange Knowles Doesn’t Trade Hair Tips with Sister Beyoncé

Solange Knowles changes her hairstyles all the time, pulling hair inspiration from everyone except her sister Beyoncé. “We don’t trade hair tips,” Knowles told InStyle of her big sis at the Elle Women in Music event in Hollywood last night. “She has a stylist all the time and I have to kinda manage.” As for where the 24-year-old mother of one pulls her inspiration, she looks to technology. “I’m a big reference person and the iPad has made that totally annoying because I’m constantly looking at images and slideshows of references,” says Knowles. “I went through my Cleopatra, Janet Jackson phase not too long ago—old Janet when she had the big, thick braids. Then I felt like, ‘I’m done with this. I think I’m going to rock a fro.’ All of it is still a reflection of me and where I’m at,” she explained. The first day of New York Fashion Week is underway and the stars are out to celebrate. Nicole Richie showed off her House of Harlow collection at Bergdorf Goodman last night, Solange Knowles spun tunes at Macy’s Bar III pop-up shop, and Matthew McConaughey played cheerleader to wife Camila Alves at the Heart Truth’s Red Dress show. Rihanna’s New Hair: Poufy, Red and Big!

Though Rihanna has been known to be quite the hair chameleon, her latest style—poufy, red and big—may be our new favorite. The singer first revealed her new look via Twitter while working on a music video for “S&M,” a track off her new album Loud. Then last night, she appeared in Los Angeles almost unrecognizable under her voluminous curls (shown). But Rihanna isn’t the only celebrity to rock big, bold hair in recent years.
