One of the reasons we love our favorite films and television shows is the costuming—and the top designers were honored at the 15th annual Costume Designers Guild Awards yesterday for creating it! The women behind Anna Karenina, Skyfall, Downton Abbey, and more all took home trophies, with a toast to their work on the big and small screens. “One can only do great work if one is given a great opportunity,” Karenina‘s Jacqueline Durran said while accepting the award for Excellence in Period Film. It’s princess time! With Snow White and the Huntsman hitting theaters this Friday, all eyes will be on a princess (Kristen Stewart)—and a fierce one at that. Charlize Theron is InStyle’s June cover girl! She’s a star who’s known for her challenging roles and independent choices—and we caught up to find out exactly what she thinks about being single, being a mom, and being happy. “Motherhood was something I always knew I wanted to experience,” said Theron of son Jackson (she adopted in March). “I can only hope to be 10 percent of the mom mine was to me. She encouraged me to be confident and enjoy life. That’s what I want for my son.” As for love: “I’m always open to a relationship, but I’m not putting those feelers out there now,” the 36-year-old said of being a party of one. “I’m not unhappy with it, but I’m not like, Oh, this is so much better than when I was in a relationship.” Next up, she stars as the Evil Queen in Snow White and the Huntsman, out June 1st. With the fairytale in mind—though the action movie is anything but—we wondered, what’s her happily ever after? “Getting to do exactly what I want to do and not having to explain it to anyone.” Sounds delightful! Read more of our exclusive interview with Theron in the new June issue, on newsstands Friday.

Two of next year’s blockbusters will put braids on the big screen in a big way. For Kristen Stewart‘s gritty take on the Snow White tale, Snow White and the Huntsman, she pulls her hair back into braided pony. Meanwhile, Jennifer Lawrence works a loose side braid as Katniss Everdeen for the upcoming movie adaptation of the bestselling book The Hunger Games. Both actresses dyed their hair darker for the parts as well. So, which braid do you prefer? Let us know by voting in the poll below!
Cathy Waterman’s jewelry always lands on the red carpet—adorning Nicole Kidman, Leighton Meester, Julia Roberts, and more—and now her pieces are headed to the big screen! Waterman designed a special collection of pieces for next year’s release of Snow White and the Huntsman. The Evil Queen, played by Charlize Theron, can be seen in the trailer wearing a pair of 22k recycled gold vine frame earrings with black sapphires and diamonds. Sounds like a match made in fairytale heaven!
