Uma Thurman is the latest star to work a platinum wig and call herself Marilyn Monroe! The actress, who is now pregnant with her third child, channeled the infamous vixen for the NBC hit show Smash. In the series, Thurman guest stars as Rebecca Duvall, who producers cast as the blonde icon to add a celebrity element to their musical-in-the-making about Monroe’s life, Bombshell. Tune in to watch Thurman’s portrayal tonight at 10/9c on NBC.

Smash Star Megan Hilty Knows the Power of the Perfect Dress

Smash star Megan Hilty may look like a pro on the red carpet, but she still finds the process a little intimidating. “I’d never done anything like this before, so I thought there would be a lot of pressure,” the Broadway veteran told InStyle.com of her appearance at the Smash premiere this month. One thing that calmed her nerves—having the perfect outfit. “As soon as we found the right dress everything made sense,” said Hilty, who wore a sparkly black number to the event. “But it was a little daunting.” However, the actress does have a secret for hiding red carpet jitters in photos: “Keep breathing, don’t be so stiff.” Good advice! We caught up with Smash’s Megan Hilty at New York Fashion Week, where she gave us the inside scoop on her on-set style! “It’s huge,” the actress said of her Smash wardrobe. “Not only do we have our characters’ clothes, there are the roles that they’re playing too, and rehearsal clothes.” As of last night’s episode, Hilty’s character Ivy Lynn beat out Katharine McPhee for the lead role of Marilyn Monroe in a new Broadway musical, which means we’ll be seeing a lot more glamourous gowns on her soon! Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and Karen Cartwright (Katharine McPhee) are both vying for the role of Marilyn Monroe on tonight’s episode of Smash, and we caught with Hilty at New York Fashion Week to get the inside scoop on what it’s like to channel the icon. “It’s so much fun,” Hilty said of playing Monroe. “At first it’s a little terrifying, taking on something like that, but I get to hide behind my character a little bit. Around 11.5 million viewers, actually, TVbytheNumbers reports. “What I love about the show is that it’s about dreams, and how no dream is too big,” said McPhee, who got her first taste of fame as a contestant on Season 5 of American Idol. In Smash, which co-stars Debra Messing, Angelica Huston, and Megan Hilty, she plays a struggling actress vying for the lead role in a musical about Marilyn Monroe’s life.
