New Product Alert: Crystal Lip Balms

May 14, 2012 @ 2:00 pm

Your old-school lip balm just got a neon makeover! We’re loving the summery batch of crystal lip balms that just hit stores. Packaged in a translucent lipstick shape, these gel-like high-octane shades impart a sheer, glossy finish that can be layered to show off the color’s maximum impact. From Clarins’s hot pink ($25; clarinsusa.com), to DuWop’s sheer orange ($19; duwop.com), and Sephora’s punchy violet ($3; sephora.com), they’re a non-intimidating way to rock a neon pucker without feeling overdone. Plus, the ultra-hydrating formulas make the balms perfect for summer.

First Look: Prabal Gurung Designs New Sephora Uniforms

Dec 14, 2011 @ 2:25 pm

Prabal Gurung has created new uniforms for Sephora‘s in-store beauty advisors! The beauty retailer’s current uniform has been used since 2001, but in April, the new designs will be rolled out at North American stores. “The beauty advisors work so hard to make their clients look and feel good. I was ecstatic with the opportunity to make them look just as amazing,” Gurung said at the unveiling of the garments last night in New York City. “I incorporated some of my favorite design elements into the uniforms, and although I won’t get to personally meet every individual advisor, it’s exciting to think they’ll be getting to know me by wearing these outfits.” 2011 has been a big year for Gurung: Not only was he awarded the CFDA Swarovski Award for Womenswear, but he was recently appointed chief designer to relaunch the Japansese fashion brand ICB. Get a sneak peek at Gurung’s design sketches for Sephora by clicking “See the Photos” right now!

Kate Walsh’s Break-Up Solution: Perfume

Feb 3, 2011 @ 5:36 pm

After Kate Walsh breaks up with a guy, it isn’t her ex that she misses; it’s the way he smells. That’s why the Private Practice star created a fragrance that evokes the scent of a man, minus the man. “Everyone wants to have that boyfriend feeling, whether you have a boyfriend or not,” Walsh, in Ferragamo, told us last night at the launch of her fragrance at Sephora in New York. “It’s obvious [because] there are boyfriend shirts, boyfriend jeans, and it’s like what is that? What do we crave?” For Walsh, it’s a scent. Sure, she had tried to actually wear men’s fragrance, but couldn’t seem to find one that was subtle enough for day wear. With her new perfume, it’s just the right mix of masculine and feminine—yes, we sniffed it—with notes like jasmine, amber and vanilla. The fragrance is available now in oil, lotion and perfume for $20 to $95 exclusively at Sephora stores and Sephora.com.
