The 4th Annual Fashion 2.0 Awards were held at the SVA Theatre in New York last night, where some of our favorite designers and their teams were honored for their tech savvy! The “Digital Oscars,” as they’re affectionately called, were hosted by Simon Doonan and Robert Verdi, who handed Diane von Furstenberg, Gilt Groupe, and Anthropologie some of the top awards of the night for their Twitter, Pinterest, videos, and more. Marc Jacobs and Saks Fifth Avenue took two honors each, and DKNY was named “Best Twitter” for the fourth year running. Congratulations, everyone! Click to see the complete list of winners after the jump. And tell us: Which of these designers to you love to follow online?

Saks Transformed Its Building Into a Super Cool Holiday Movie

Nov 20, 2012 @ 2:30 pm

Saks Fifth Avenue transformed its New York flagship store into a movie screen at last night’s holiday windows unveiling for a two-minute film called “Snowflake Spectacular,” and spectacular it was! To create the mesmerizing lifelike 3D images that altered the look of the building itself—which included windows looking like they opened and closed to the music and gifts stacked to the sky, all set to the upbeat portion of “Christmas Eve/Sarajevo” by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra—Saks used a custom-made six-projector system. And you don’t have to be in New York to watch it! See the projection above—it will certainly put you in the holiday mood.

‘Tis the season! One of New York City’s greatest holiday traditions is in full swing—the unveiling of the holiday windows—and Saks Fifth Avenue and Henri Bendel both revealed theirs last night. Saks’s went for Nutcracker-esque approach, as the store hired dancers from the American Ballet Theatre to pirouette the snowflake and yeti-filled windows (shown above, left) to life while a giant winter wonderland animation projected on the outside of the iconic Fifth Avenue building. Meanwhile, Bendel had launched a #DecoTheHalls holiday theme, featuring cozy home decor inspired by the roaring ’20s. The season finale of Fashion Star aired last night, and Kara Laricks took home the top prize—a $6 million contract with Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, and H&M! “I very specifically remember standing on that stage and thinking nothing but ‘I’m grateful,’” Laricks told InStyle.com exclusively. “It’s been a lifelong dream to be able to create a full collection, and see people shopping it and people loving it.” While the designer showcased collections for all three retailers last night, our top pick is the sleeveless tuxedo shift dress she designed for Macy’s ($79 at macys.com). With its sleek cut and black and white color palette, it’s the perfect canvas for bold accessories. “I want people to be able to celebrate each side of their personality,” Laricks said of her designs. “I design in a way that you can take any piece and determine how you want to style it and make it comfortable for you.” Congratulations, Kara!

Fashion Star Episode 9: See the Winning Looks (And Our Top Pick)

May 9, 2012 @ 12:10 pm

The season finale of NBC’s Fashion Star is almost here! Last night, the mentors and judges had to slash six contestants to the final three. The pressure was on as each designer presented two looks, and H&MMacy’s, and Saks Fifth Avenue all walked away with new designs. But which one did we like most? Our top pick is Orly Shani’s two-tone dress, which was scooped up by Saks  ($295 at saksfifthavenue.com). “The hourglass shape is very flattering for a woman’s body,” said Saks buyer Terron E. Schaefer of why he bid $60,000 on the look. We love how the neutral colors can provide a great backdrop for standout accessories. See the rest of the night’s winners in the gallery, and tune in to see who takes home the top prize during next week’s finale episode.
