Julie Bowen: ‘I Feel Like the Teen Boys’ Department Version of Sofia’

While Julie Bowen (in Temperley) and Sofia Vergara (in Marchesa) both wore similar shades of fuchsia to the SAG Awards, the Modern Family co-stars didn’t coordinate together. “I clearly didn’t plan my colors with Sofia,” Bowen told InStyle.com at the after-party. “I usually email her shortly before an awards thing and I go, ‘What are you wearing?’” And she wishes she remembered to do that this time: “I don’t want to wear the same color as her because you look like you’re wearing the junior men’s version of whatever she’s wearing,” Bowen said. “I feel like the teen boys’ department version of Sofia!” We think both ladies looked gorgeous!

Dianna Agron Wore Carolina Herrera Because…

Dianna Agron chose a fuchsia Carolina Herrera gown for the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday, a decision she made thanks to the designer herself. “When [Herrera] calls and says, ‘Can I make you a dress?’ you say yes because she’s so amazing,” the Glee star told InStyle.com at the official after-party. “I’ve worn three of her dresses before. They are so feminine and wonderful. It’s just such an honor that a designer would want to make a dress for you.” We’re waiting for your call, Carolina!

Naya Rivera’s SAG Awards Dress: Runway to Red Carpet

Naya Rivera said yes to altering her dress! The Glee actress attended last night’s SAG Awards wearing a beaded spring 2012 Naeem Khan gown with a sexy tweak—no sleeves! “While I am loving long sleeves these days, I felt that Naya should show a bit of skin,” the designer told InStyle.com. “She is young so I didn’t want her to be too covered up.” Rivera couldn’t be happier with the look. “I really loved the color. I’ve never worn baby blue before and I like the silhouette,” she told us on the red carpet. So, what do you think of the alteration?

Kyra Sedgwick‘s red-hot Emilio Pucci gown featured additional peekaboo side slits, the backside of Julie Bowen‘s magenta Temperley London look draped like a reverse cowlneck, Angelina Jolie‘s halter Jenny Packham design cut just above her bottom, and Ahna O’Reilly‘s crimson Nha Khanh style fully exposed her vertebrae. And The Help star told InStyle.com she chose her look for that exact reason: “What you see is what you get,” she told us on the red carpet. “I tried on a number of dresses, but I loved this one right away. Who says ponytails have to be plain? Shailene Woodley, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, and Diane Lane walked the 2012 SAG Awards red carpet last night in elegant, pretty pulled-back styles. Woodley and Lane opted for effortless low looks, while Mays and Vergara wore retro-inspired ‘dos with added volume at the crown. Ponytails are a carefree alternative to the traditional updo. To get the look, start with hair that has been blow-dried smooth, and fasten with an elastic. If you’re worried your hair will fall flat, give strands a blast of dry shampoo or volumizing spray at the root to create extra lift.
