Roberto Cavalli to Open More Clubs and Cafés

Roberto Cavalli‘s empire is growing! The Italian designer (shown with Rachel Bilson) announced plans today to open 15 new cafés and five clubs in cities around the world, including São Paulo, Shanghai, Istanbul, Beirut and Mumbai, WWD reports. The new locations are in addition to a Just Cavalli Club in Milan, two Cavalli Clubs in Florence and Dubai and three Cavalli Giacosa Cafés in Florence. So now when Bilson and other Cavalli-loving globetrotters like Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez travel, they’ll have guaranteed stylish spots (designed with Cavalli’s signature animal print, black quartz and Swarovski crystals) in which to party.

Rachel Bilson & Taylor Swift Debut Roberto Cavalli’s ‘Diva’ Bag

Among the many highlights of Roberto Cavalli’s 40th anniversary show yesterday in Milan was the runway debut of the ‘Diva’ bag. The purse comes in three sizes and seven materials ranging from denim to python to calfskin leather, so shoppers can easily find the right style for their wardrobe. “Women must never forget that personality is the most glamorous accessory of all,” said the designer. Rachel Bilson and Taylor Swift both gave the bag their own personal spin, carrying versions to the show. Want one of your own? The ‘Diva’ will be available online and in stores in November and costs between $1,205 and $3,060.

Shakira Closes World Cup in Cavalli

Last week, we gave you a sneak peek at the custom Cavalli costume Shakira planned to wear at the World Cup closing ceremony, but the sketch paled in comparison to the real thing! Every single neon and fringed detail literally lit up the stage as the signer performed alongside African dancers, costumed elephants, and an incredible light and fireworks display. Shakira’s hip-swiveling rendition of “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” proved to be almost as captivating as the actual World Cup Final itself, which ended with Spain winning 1-0 in overtime.

See Shakira’s Cavalli-Designed World Cup Finale Uniform

Roberto Cavalli has taken on the task of designing Shakira’s costume for the 2010 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony concert, and the preview sketch does not disappoint: The singer will shake her (non-lying) hips in a custom silk-fringed skirt with a floral motif, a denim belt studded with pearls, a tulle top embroidered with (more) multi-colored pearls, and leather bracelets decorated with silk floral appliques while she performs the game’s official song “Waka-Waka” in Johannesburg Sunday.
