It doesn’t get more glamorous than this at Cannes! The annual amfAR Cinema Against Aids Gala is traditionally the biggest red carpet event of the Cannes Film Festival, and the turnout at last night’s 20th anniversary of the event didn’t disappoint. Olivia Palermo (in Roberto Cavalli), Jessica Chastain (in Saint Laurent), Heidi Klum (in Marchesa), and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley (in Dior), all came for the festivities to raise awareness and funds for amfAR, The Foundation for AIDS Research, which is dedicated to research, prevention, and education for the disease. The night included dinner, dancing, and, as a special treat, a live fashion show sponsored by the World Gold Council’s LoveGold initiative where 38 models walked the runway in glittering gold designs for The Ultimate Gold Collection Fashion Show. Emily Blunt is decked out in metallic Burberry Prorsum as InStyle’s May cover girl! The no-nonsense star lives up to her name in our new exclusive interview, as she gives us her unfiltered thoughts on her style, her husband, and what she really thinks of acting in Hollywood. “I see Hollywood as a bubble that you pop your head into every now and again,” she told us. “I never get fully immersed in it.” But when she does—she goes full tilt. Up next, you’ll see her alongside Colin Firth in the bittersweet odd-couple movie Arthur Newman (out April 26) and her first action flick, co-starring Tom Cruise of all people, All You Need Is Kill (out March 2014). In the meantime, she has another co-star, her real-life partner, husband John Krasinski. “Meeting John really changed my life,” she said. “When I feel the support that I have from him, I feel invincible. There’s someone behind you on your good days, and someone in front of you on your bad days.” And that’s not all—be sure to get the full interview and see more photographs when the new May issue hits newsstands—or download it to your iPad, Nook, or Droid tablet—starting this Friday, April 19.

Coming Soon: Roberto Cavalli’s Just Cavalli Scent

Jan 31, 2013 @ 5:17 pm

Roberto Cavalli is launching a new fragrance! Starting in March, the designer will roll out his Just Cavalli scent, which features Georgia May Jagger in the campaign. “I think the perfume was born under the right star, because Georgia is very sweet, young, and positive, just like the fragrance,” Cavalli told InStyle.com of the neroli, tiare flower, and palissander wood mix. But long before Jagger became the face of the scent, the designer looked to his Just Cavalli line for inspiration. “The perfume is part of my fashion, but fragrance is also part of your body,” he added. “In all my stores, I apply a little bit of perfume to the garments because it’s so important to make the scent right for the dress.” Find Just Cavalli at Macy’s and macys.com in March, priced from $45 to $75.

Twilight’s Kellan Lutz Has a New Designer BFF: Roberto Cavalli

Nov 13, 2012 @ 2:55 pm

Kellan Lutz has a new best friend: Roberto Cavalli! “We love Roberto!” Lutz told InStyle.com at last night’s Hollywood premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2, where he and Australian girlfriend Sharni Vinson both wore looks by the Italian designer. “I met him in Milan,” Lutz added. “We said to him, ‘We would be honored if we could wear something of yours.’ Then we got fitted in Milan—which is crazy to think. We had my suit and her dress months ago!” And their relationship has grown since. “He opened his house and arms up to us,” Lutz explained. “We got to hang out with him in St. Tropez. He’s a good friend now.” See… Edward doesn’t have all the fun!

Bergdorf Goodman’s 111th Anniversary Party Brings Designers and Their Muses

What’s better than turning 100? Turning 111! Bergdorf Goodman celebrated its birthday last night with a mega-bash at The Plaza, located across from its famous Fifth Avenue and 58th Street flagship. The New York design world came out for the retailer’s “111 Years of Extraordinary”-themed party, with designers and their muses covering every inch of the ballroom in the most extraordinary garb. The standouts included Coco Rocha in a Zac Posen bordeaux satin gown, rising style star Rita Ora in an old Hollywood-inspired white look by Emilio Pucci’s Peter Dundas, and Karolina Kurkova, who wore a Roberto Cavalli suit done in one of the label’s signature exotic prints. Other designer attendees included Thakoon Panichgul, Carolina Herrera, and Michael Kors. And, as if there weren’t enough showstoppers with the fashion alone, classical singer Sasha Lazard stopped by the party to perform “Happy Birthday” while a giant three-tiered cake—flaming with fireworks—was rolled on to the dance floor. Way to throw one “extraordinary” celebration, Berdgorf! Click through the gallery below for more photos from this week’s hottest parties.

Singer Rita Ora on Her Style: “I Mix It Up”

Oct 10, 2012 @ 4:51 pm

Rita Ora is pop’s new party girl—just listen to her hit “How We Do”—and her style reflects her fun music. “My music has so many varieties; it’s a little bit for everyone, and I mix my outfits in the same way,” the British singer told InStyle.com at the Absolut Tune launch in New York. “Sometimes I come out looking kind of boyish, like tonight, and sometimes I come out looking like a complete hip-hop ’90s baby, complete with beanie.” Menswear-inspired or not, the look was all designer, including an Emilio Pucci jacket, Roberto Cavalli blouse, Wes Gordon leggings, and Manolo Blahnik pumps, and Jennifer Fisher rings. Overall, though, she said: “My style is always different.
