The Kate Effect strikes again! Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge wore a blue tweed Rebecca Taylor suit yesterday, and the $450 jacket sold out within hours. And the New Zealand-born, New York designer is thrilled: “A lot of our similar suits sold out, too,” Taylor told InStyle.com exclusively. While the designer has no plans yet to recreate the exact outfit, she will sell similar sets next season. “It’s the same idea. We always have skirt suits,” she said of her fall offerings. Runway Looks We Love: Rebecca Taylor

Feb 10, 2012 @ 6:40 pm

For fall 2012, Rebecca Taylor presented a darker, edgier collection that was more fitting for Lisbeth Salander than her usual California-girl Lauren Conrad-type fans. The designer layered everything, pairing sheer pants with chunky sweaters and cut-out leggings with leather shorts. Her prints included ombré leopard, glitter, and sequins, while her jeweled embellishments closely resembled broken glass. Fingerless gloves, oversized bags, faux fur booties and chainlink earrings topped off each outfit. See some our favorite looks from the collection in the gallery!

Runway Looks We Love: Rebecca Taylor

Sep 10, 2011 @ 11:30 am

Rebecca Taylor’s spring 2012 runway show offered her signature feminine vibe, with an added sporty twist. Army jackets topped flowing silk skirts and anoraks covered ethereal dresses, giving the collection a pretty-with-a-tomboy-edge effortlessly cool quality. Citrus tones like limeade and citron brightened up the otherwise mostly-neutral palette, especially for the accessories, where structured bags came in bubblegum pink with shots of metallic. The footwear had a touch of ‘40s flair with modern updates, like a leopard-print heel or color-blocking. See our favorite looks from the Rebecca Taylor show in the gallery.

Support Wildlife Preservation With Rebecca Taylor’s Dolphin Jewelry

Mar 27, 2011 @ 11:00 am

Sisterly collaboration alert: Designer Rebecca Taylor teamed up with her sister, Tory & Ko jeweler Victoria Taylor, to design a collection of sterling silver dolphin-themed jewelry. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Oceanic Preservation Society, the organization that produced the Oscar-winning dolphin documentary The Cove. “We grew up so close to the ocean and it is something we both feel strongly about protecting it,” Rebecca Taylor told us. “Thousands of dolphins, are captured each year to be sold to marine mammal parks and if they don’t sell they are killed, which is quickly depleting the dolphin population in the Pacific. I’m excited to be able work together to bring awareness to this important cause.” The $125 pieces are already being sold in New Zealand, and they’re slated to hit Rebecca Taylor stores in the U.S. this May.

Michelle Tractenberg to Launch Collection With Rebecca Taylor

Feb 11, 2011 @ 6:29 pm

Backstage at the Rebecca Taylor fashion show today, Michelle Tractenberg exclusively revealed to InStyle that she’s planning to create a capsule collection with the designer. “It’s a ways away, but we’re conceptualizing,” said Tractenberg, wearing a Rebecca Taylor sweater and jacket and an Erickson Beamon necklace. “We’ve  been talking closely about what makes a girl a girl and a woman a woman and what definitive moments in a woman’s life can be like articulated in a woman’s outfit. It’ll be very ladylike for those different moments and occasions we all have.” Therefore, the actress has been spending lots of time in Taylor’s showroom. “I guess it’s surreal that I’m good friends with designers whose work I really admire and love,” she said. We can’t wait to see their upcoming collection!
