Found It! Rashida Jones’s Crisp White Outfit from Zara

Apr 26, 2013 @ 3:10 pm

Rashida Jones epitomized casual cool when she showed up to the City Year event in Los Angeles this week in a crisp white blazer, pleated cropped pants to match, and a soft gray cotton tee. “This is Zara actually,” the Parks and Recreation star revealed to InStyle.com. “Zara is literally my favorite place. I love it.” Jones paired the brand’s linen blazer ($90) with the faux leather-topped trousers ($60), and then layered a basic ribbed T-shirt underneath ($20). Rashida’s style stayed true to her love for “architectural clothes and menswear” without being overly masculine. Head to zara.com to start shopping her look now.

You Have to Read What Rashida Jones Thinks of High Heels

With the weekend in sight, we caught up with the hilarious Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones to chat about how she preps for party nights. “I want to be comfortable!” she told InStyle.com at an event pre-Oscars. Luckily, her stylist Brad Goreski helps her always look so chic—though she does have one request that goes beyond his styling realm. “Shoes are so painful! Stop putting us in torture devices! Please,” she said. “I don’t care what it looks like. The idea of going out for 7 to 10 hours at night and hobbling around in these vices—it’s so insane. I can’t do it. My shoe situation is never cute.” That said, we’ve spotted her in (from left) Rupert Sanderson, Giuseppe Zanotti, Nicholas Kirkwood, and Christian Louboutin—and not a hobble in sight. Fabulous footwear does have its advantages!

Rashida Jones Thinks She Dresses Like Her Stylist, Brad Goreski

Feb 18, 2013 @ 9:00 am

Parks and Recreation star Rashida Jones works with celebrity-loved stylist Brad Goreski for her glamorously laid-back look, and she told us the one key factor that makes their relationship work so well. “We’re a good match because we kind of dress alike in real life,” Jones told InStyle.com. “I like menswear and he likes menswear, and we have a preppy streak.” But their similar style doesn’t mean Goreski wants her to dress the same all the time. “Brad pushes me in [different] directions,” Jones told InStyle.com. “I like weird, architectural, strange clothes. He tries to find the feminine version of that weird thing I love.” May their fashion love affair continue!

Rashida Jones’s New Jewelry Trick: Layer Big Necklaces

Feb 8, 2013 @ 9:02 am

Rashida Jones got a lesson in how to wear jewelry from Dannijo designers Danielle & Jodie Snyder before attending their fall 2013 accessories preview, and she shared her new knowledge with InStyle.com. “I tried to editorialize my own layering,” she told us, referring to her two necklaces she wore together as one complete look. “I did a lot of back and forth [with the designers]. We did email styling, and this is based on what I’ve learned.” Your takeaway: Double it up when it comes to statement jewelry—more is more!

While some of us have to wait until this Sunday, February 10th to shop Prabal Gurung’s LOVE collection for Target, that’s not the case for celebrities! The Nepalese designer’s A-list fans, including Carey Mulligan, Elizabeth Olsen, Rashida Jones, and Olivia Thirlby all came out to the his boardwalk-themed launch party in New York wearing the colorful pieces in the LOVE line. “I love the way he is inspired to take art and turn it into something you can wear on your body,” Thirlby, who starred in the collection’s campaign video, told InStyle.com at the event, before heading over to the stage to listen to Ne-Yo perform his hit song, “Let Me Love You.” As for Gurung himself, it all comes down to love: “It might be exasperating for a lot of other guys, but I find it really enchanting,” he said. “I just wanted to remind women, whether they’re in a relationship or whether they’re single, not to forget the essence of love.” And in these sweet date-ready designs, how could we!

Plus, see the entire LOVE collection in the gallery! Shop it in stores and target.com Sunday, February 10.

Celeste and Jesse Forever on DVD Today: What Rashida Jones Really Thinks About Her Costumes

Feb 5, 2013 @ 5:42 pm
Celeste and Jesse ForeverEverett Collection

Rashida Jones doesn’t just star in Celeste and Jesse Forever—which comes out on DVD today—she also co-wrote the screenplay, her first-ever writing attempt, for which she just received an Independent Spirit Award nomination (she’ll find out if she won on February 23!). The film depicts her title character, a well-dressed trend forecaster, in a downward spiral after separating from her husband (Andy Samberg), a falling-apart process that impacts the way she dresses. “We talked about what she’s wearing and how cleanly dressed she is in the beginning,” Jones said. “Then by the end she’s just wearing this one stupid striped sweater over and over again. Because that’s what happens when you’re depressed.“  The Parks and Recreation star was inspired to write the movie by a lack of diverse female characters in modern romantic comedies. “I got a little fatigued by this unrealistic portrayal of women in romantic comedies where the girls never really got to devolve,” Jones told InStyle.com. “Separating from someone you love is a multi-step process and it’s really messy. I wanted to make sure that the protagonist stopped dating and stopped remembering how to dress.

Parks and Recreation Hairstylist Reveals Amy and Rashida’s Must-Have Product

Nov 15, 2012 @ 4:52 pm

Tonight’s episode of Parks and Recreation is getting politically charged, with Vice President Joe Biden guest starring! We’re excited to see him interact with longtime admirer Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler), but how will she ensure that her strands are just right? That’s where the show’s hairstylist, Terrie V. Owen, comes in. Although Pawnee’s most hilarious women keep us laughing, flawless hair is no joke, so Owen turns to White Sands Liquid Texture Styling Spray for both Poehler and Ann Perkins (Rashida Jones). “I use it when I need the waves and curls to stand up to long shooting days on set,” she said. Thanks to its shatter-proof hold that doesn’t leave hair stiff, the product has become a favorite behind the scenes of many TV shows, including True Blood and Mad Men. Pick up a bottle for $19 at whitesandsproducts.com and tune in to NBC at 9:30 p.m. EST to catch the new episode of Parks and Recreation!
