Rachel Zoe’s New Collection: Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Video!

May 21, 2012 @ 4:00 pm

Rachel Zoe’s new pre-fall collection just landed in stores, and the celebrity stylist-turned-designer gave InStyle.com an exclusive behind-the-scenes peek at her lookbook photo shoot! “This collection leans towards more toward the ‘60s, and I think that’s what makes it a little different than my previous collections,” Zoe said of the inspiration behind this season’s lineup, which includes maxi skirts, leather jackets, and mod shifts in sequin stripes, black and white croc print, and watercolor printed florals. “It’s really about a girl who loves fashion but really never has the time to try that hard,” she explained. “So she can buy a great little dress and wear it five ways. I really think it’s about diversity in each piece.” Watch the video above—look out for a Skyler Morrison Berman cameo around 1:15—and pick up the new collection in stores now at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks, and shopbop.com.

Rachel Zoe Seeks Karl Lagerfeld’s Approval

Apr 19, 2012 @ 12:00 pm

Rachel Zoe is powering ahead with her own line, and with growth, she’s gaining a lot more fans. “I have had incredible friends tell me that they love it,” the celebrity-stylist-turned-designer told InStyle.com at the celebration for Amanda de Cadenet’s The Conversation show this week. “Designers, that they love it. And that’s the highest compliment I can get.” But there is one person she dreams about giving her feedback: “If Karl Lagerfeld comes up to me and tells me that he loves my clothes then I will just quit at that point,” she said. “Because that’s it! Do you know what I mean? I mean, that’s it!” Well, here’s to hoping!

Feb 17, 2012 @ 12:40 pm

In honor of the Oscars, Tiffany & Co. enlisted celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe to design the window displays for its New York City flagship, and just unveiled the presentation this week. For the project, Zoe translated her signature red carpet formula to gorgeous still-lifes of her favorite decades, each featuring a different Tiffany jewel. The highlight is the 1960s window spotlighting Elizabeth Taylor’s Fleur de Mer brooch, which Tiffany purchased at the actress’s Christie’s auction in December. Click through the gallery to see the display now.

Rachel Zoe’s Fall 2012 Collection: Our Favorite Looks!

Feb 12, 2012 @ 2:30 pm

Rachel Zoe looked to rock and roll and ’60s glam to inspire her fall collection, which she showed during New York Fashion Week yesterday. “I was inspired by London street style fashion,” the designer told us backstage after the show. “The Rolling Stones, Marianne Faithfull, The Beatles—put that into a modern day woman and there you have it!” The result: Slim suits in textured tweeds and velvets, topped off with shaggy fur jackets. Her accessories and outerwear featured faux and real fur vests, head wraps and hats, while her Art Deco-inspired costume jewelry shone against Mick Jagger-worthy suits and sequined dresses. Click through the gallery to see our favorite looks from the show!

The Fun Story Behind Rachel Zoe and Anne Hathaway’s Vintage Dresses

Jan 26, 2012 @ 5:50 pm

Not only did Anne Hathaway present her stylist pal Rachel Zoe with the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center’s first Visionary Award this weekthe pair also matched in vintage! Christos Garkinos and Cameron Silver, the co-founders of Hollywood designer vintage boutique Decades, dressed them in a down-to-the-very-last-minute styling whirlwind. “I was at Rachel’s house a few days before and she told me she had nothing to wear,” Garkinos—one of Zoe’s longtime pals—told InStyle.com. That’s when he pulled this velvet look, a piece Gianni Versace designed from the ’90s. “She actually turned the dress around so the buttons were in the front, not the back,” he said. “That’s Rachel for you!” Hathaway, however, needed a last-minute option. “She called me two hours before the event,” he said. After trying nine looks, Hathaway went with a black silk chiffon haute couture Christian Dior gown. “I had no idea which one she was going to pick, but when she showed up she looked so amazing.” So, what made these dresses stand out? “The great thing about what we do is that vintage is has a sense of modernity,” he said. “They felt so chic and right on and that’s the true key.” And since they only borrowed the dresses, you can scoop them up yourself by calling Decades at 323-655-0223.
