Project Accessory Winner Brian Burkhardt’s Kenneth Cole Collection

Feb 29, 2012 @ 2:25 pm

Project Accessory winner Brian Burkhardt is still basking in the delight of his first season triumph. Not only did he take home the $100,000 grand prize to put towards his own line, he also got to design a four-piece capsule collection for Kenneth Cole, now in stores. “I feel very honored to have this opportunity,” Burkhardt told us at the collaboration’s launch party in New York City. The chance arose after Burkhardt won the sixth episode challenge with the unicorn clutch, shown, and bolero necklace—and then he added two more pieces after the season wrapped. “He took his own path,” Cole said of why Burkhardt rose to the top. Check out the entire collection in the gallery, and shop it on kennethcole.com100% of net profits will be donated to AWEARNESS, The Kenneth Cole Foundation, in support of amfAR.

Congratulations, Project Accessory’s Brian!

The first winner of Project Accessory is… Brian Burkhardt! The Miami jewelry designer edged out the competition to take home the grand prize last week, which includes $100,000 from eBay Fashion to start his own accessories line, a spread in InStyle, and a year of professional runway hair styling courtesy of John Frieda. “I gave it my all,” Burkhardt said after the win. “I applied myself 110%. It was the hardest thing I ever did in my life. To be awarded for that is pretty amazing.” InStyle editor Ariel Foxman Tweeted his closure after the show wrapped: ”Happy to judge.” Congrats to Brian, and stay tuned to see his spread in a future issue!

Project Accessory: Episode 6 Recap and Ariel Foxman’s Tweet Roundup!

Dec 9, 2011 @ 1:07 pm

We’re nearing the finale of Project Accessory!  Last night the six remaining contestants were tasked with creating holiday-ready clutches.  Brian was the challenge winner—guest judge Alexa Chung, who joined InStyle’s own Ariel Foxman, even claimed she “was horny” for his unicorn-inspired resin bag!   As always, Foxman tweeted his thoughts throughout the show and we’ve rounded up our favorites below:

In the end, though the judges conceded he’d done a good job editing his work, Adrian was sent home.  He graciously conceded that Brian’s “resin technique is phenomenal.” Catch another new episode next Thursday at 10/9c on Lifetime, and stay in the know with @arielfoxman on Twitter.

Take a look back at the original contestants!

Recent Project Accessory cast-off Shea Curry showed off jewels she designedafter leaving the show, mind you—at the New Year’s Eve premiere in Los Angeles last night. (She has a cameo alongside Josh Duhamel: “He’s such a sweetheart,” she told InStyle.com.) So what’s next for this glamour girl? “Right now, I’m finishing up my third collection,” she noted. “I’m adding clutches and maybe shoes.” One thing she loved about the show was getting advice from InStyle editor Ariel Foxman. “I loved Ariel,” she noted. “He could be hard on me sometimes, but I loved his advice, and I’m taking a lot of it.” And if there’s one thing she took away from the show, it’s this: “I learned that under pressure I can do anything.” Visit shamelessjewelry.com to see more of Shea’s jewelry, and catch her cameo in New Year’s Eve, out Friday.

Project Accessory airs Thursdays at 10/9c on Lifetime. See more contestants in the gallery!
