Every season, InStyle Fashion Director Cindy Weber Cleary picks out her favorite Fashion Week looks, and for the fall 2013 shows, she loved Proenza Schouler‘s new lineup. “Wow! How could Beyonce dance for 14 minutes straight during her Super Bowl XLVII halftime show? With the help of amazing footwear! The singer, along with fellow Destiny’s Child members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland, stomped and bounced across the 50-yard-line stage wearing lace-up booties by Proenza Schouler. The style is one of the New York brand’s classics, which you can find for $930 at the brand’s Madison Avenue location (call 212-585-3200 to order). You can also shop the style in black or burgundy suede for $309 (down from $775) on the new Barneys New York Warehouse Sale site, barneyswarehouse.com. As for her over-the-knee socks, they’re actually pantyhose—surprise!!!—score them for $25 at prettypollyusa.com.

Season four of The Good Wife premiered on CBS last night, and Julianna Margulies’s Alicia Florrick returned with a fully restocked wardrobe filled with power suits, delicate jewelry, and work-ready bags. InStyle.com caught up with costume designer Daniel Lawson, shown, to get the full breakdown of last night’s looks. “I wanted to start off the season with something unexpected for her, which is why I put her in bright colors,” he said of the Proenza Schouler jade jacket and Akris red suit. “It’s something fresh and vibrant that we never did before, and it tells the viewers, ‘You better keep watching, because you don’t know what’s coming your way!’” Get all the details on this season’s looks in the gallery, and follow Lawson @GoodWifeFashion for the latest updates.
Proenza Schouler’s bold spring collection featured vibrant colors and perforated leather, from zip-front dresses and patchwork skirts to structured coats and lipstick bright jackets. In an artful twist, the designers took digital photography found online—such as a poolside scene—and turned it into a modern, wearable dress (right), which we loved. As for the accessories, the statement shoe of the season is the label’s knee-high cutout boots, while the equally chic (and sure to be highly-coveted) bags were emblazoned with metallic hardware and more of those digitally-sourced showstoppers. The fashion industry celebrated one of its biggest nights at the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards, last night held at Lincoln Center in New York City. And there was no shortage of stars on hand to support their designer pals, including Dakota Fanning (in brocade Proenza Schouler), Lily Collins (in funnel-neck Marchesa), and Zoe Saldana (in Prabal Gurung). “I just wanted to be sexy and feel very womanly, and he wanted that, too,” the actress told InStyle.com of how she and Gurung collaboratively picked her look. “We don’t censor each other. We have so much mutual respect.” A newly-brunette Mary-Kate Olsen and sister Ashley walked away as the night’s biggest winners, when Jessica Chastain (in Prabal Gurung) presented the twins with the highly-coveted Womenswear Designer of the Year award for their label, The Row. “With the future of American fashion in such supremely talented hands, the next 50 years are going to be every bit as exciting as the last,” Chastain said. What a compliment! Visit cfda.com to who else won awards, and see more photos in the gallery.
