Sad news for brides: David’s Bridal Holdings Co. announced today that all Priscilla of Boston labels and 19 salons are closing by the end of 2011. The collections that are discontinued include Priscilla of Boston, Platinum by Priscilla of Boston, The Dress by Priscilla of Boston, Jewel by Priscilla of Boston, Melissa Sweet, Reverie by Melissa Sweet, and the Vineyard Collection. In an official statement, David’s Bridal told us:

After nearly 65 years of serving America’s most beautiful brides, we have made the difficult decision to close Priscilla of Boston salons and the Priscilla of Boston portfolio of brands. This decision allows us to focus our resources on our sister division, David’s Bridal, to further accelerate David’s growth and strengthen our industry leadership.”

If you’ve already ordered your dress, all orders will be fulfilled “with the same care, love and diligence as we have over the last many years,” as salons remain open through December. In the meantime, look back at the latest looks from the Priscilla of Boston labels in the gallery, and share your Priscilla memories in the comments.

Priscilla of Boston Bridal Now Makes Fascinators!

Aug 24, 2011 @ 10:10 am

Inspired by Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge’s collection of fascinators? You’re not the only one! Due to increasing interest in the toppers, Priscilla of Boston launched several designs this month, made with vintage lace, feathers, crystals, and pearls. “All of the royal weddings this summer have inspired women across the globe to experiment with fascinators,” Kimberly Lee Minor, Chief Fashion Strategist for the bridal company tells InStyle.com. Her tip for trying the look? “Create a chic and simple hairstyle so the fascinator stands out,” Minor explains. Click through to see the styles close-up, and shop them for $165 to $300 at Priscilla of Boston salons now.

Where to Get Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress Look!

May 2, 2011 @ 2:00 pm

Brides to be, take note! Replicas of Kate Middleton’s wedding dress looks are already in production. ABS already created a long-sleeved lace gown with a plunging neckline (right) similar to the stunning Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen design Middleton wore, while a silk organza ballgown Theia showed this month is almost identical to the strapless dress the Duchess of Cambridge changed into before heading to her reception. ABS designer Allen Schwartz expects his gown to sell for around $400, with deliveries beginning on June 30th, and Theia‘s $1,995 McQueen lookalike will hit Nordstrom stores in September. Click “See the Photos” to see more similar gowns from Romona Keveza, Monique Lhuillier, and Priscilla of Boston.

Priscilla of Boston’s New Bridal Collection Photos

Apr 30, 2011 @ 9:00 am

Bridal label Priscilla of Boston showed its new 2012 collection of wedding dress styles for its six house labels recently, and InStyle scored all of the photos of the new dresses to show you now! Four of the sub-collections for this season—Jewel, Priscilla of Boston, Platinum, and Melissa Sweet—feature dresses with sweeping trains, lace detailing, and even long sleeves, which is quite reminiscent of a Catherine Middleton’s Alexander McQueen wedding dress. Priscilla of Boston’s remaining two lines, Reverie by Melissa Sweet and The Dress, played with shorter hemlines and modern frills. Click through the gallery to see all of the looks from Priscilla of Boston’s six labels—a total of 41 looks!

Thread Social Teams Up with Priscilla of Boston

Jun 10, 2010 @ 1:17 pm

We are huge fans of Thread Social‘s uber-girly party dresses, and we love Priscilla of Boston‘s refined approach to bridal, so we were thrilled to learn that the two labels are collaborating. The new collection of special occasion frocks, featuring Thread signatures like dramatic bows and asymmetrical cuts, debuts later this month, and with price tags starting at $250. And, despite the venue, the dresses are not just for weddings: “[They are also] are for the girl who… is looking for that perfect party dress.” designers Beth Blake and Melissa Akey said. While the collection will initially be available in only three of P.O.B’s salons—Philadelphia, PA, San Jose, CA and Scottsdale, AZ—you can expect to see more locations stocking the line come fall.  Click on the gallery to see more looks from the Thread Social for Priscilla of Boston collection.
