Although The Great Gatsby doesn’t hit theaters until May 10, we’re already getting excited for all of the fabulous 1920s fashion courtesy of Miuccia Prada! The designer collaborated with director Baz Luhrmann to create forty looks for the film, each adapted from past Prada and Miu Miu collections. In anticipation for the film’s release, Prada revealed the design of four of the dresses, and from the looks of the sketches the designer is going for full-on glamour—perfect for Carey Mulligan‘s portrayal of one of literature’s most supremely pampered characters, Daisy Buchanan. From sequins to silk to fur, we can’t wait to see all of the other roaring 20s-inspired looks!

Plus, see all of the posters from the upcoming movie!

The Good Wife Fashion Details: Season 4, Episode 5

Oct 29, 2012 @ 12:34 pm

A new episode of The Good Wife premiered last night, in which Julianna Margulies’s character, Alicia Florrick, had to mix her power lawyer persona with her soft-spoken approach as mom to help defend a drug lord. In order to get the perfect hard-soft aesthetic, costume designer Daniel Lawson dressed Margulies in a Fendi jacket—one of the same jackets the actress wore in last week’s episode, and a piece he picked up at Bergdorf Goodman before it even hit the sales floor. “I turned to my assistant and said, ‘That’s it!’ It was such a terrific find,” Lawson said of scoring the look. Click through the gallery for more details straight from the set!

The Good Wife Fashion Details: Season 4, Episode 4

Oct 22, 2012 @ 2:55 pm

The Good Wife costume designer Daniel Lawson gave InStyle.com the exclusive inside scoop about what Julianna Margulies wore on last night’s new episode—and the direction he’s taking fashion for her character, power lawyer Alicia Florrick. “We keep nodding to late ‘50s and early ‘60s this season,” Lawson said of his choices, which include this plum Prada suit and red Moschino jacket, as well as jackets by Ralph Lauren and Fendi (shown in the gallery). “I’m so lucky where I get to work on a show where we can pick up a new Fendi piece and be able to use it,” he said. “It’s pretty amazing.” We agree! Prada’s $3,500 Perfume: Candy Deluxe Edition

Oct 12, 2012 @ 3:40 pm

Prada’s popular Candy fragrance now comes in a $3,500 version. It’s really that much, because it’s massive. The bottle is a 30-ounce super-sized version of the original, containing notes of white musk, caramel, and benzoin. It’s going to be available at select Neiman Marcus locations and Bergdorf  Goodman beginning December 3rd for a limited time, though we suggest the 1.7-ounce version, which is easier on your wallets at $80, available at bloomingdales.com.

Runway Looks We Love: Prada

Sep 20, 2012 @ 5:19 pm

Miuccia Prada showed an inventive Spring 2013 collection at Milan Fashion Week, one filled with bold silhouettes in soft hues. The Japanese-inspired lineup included silk sheaths, tops, and skirts with intricate origami folds. The pale solids were offset by an oversize floral motif, which appeared on everything from coats to cocktail dresses. As for the accessories, always a conversation starter, the designer offered a sky-high flatform worn over metallic socks, demure day and evening bags, and flower-embellished sunglasses. Check out our favorite looks in the gallery.

Punk Fashion to Take Over the Metropolitan Museum of Art

What’s up punks?! After 2011′s incredibly successful “Savage Beauty” exhibit focusing on the work of designer Alexander McQueen, and this year’s “Impossible Conversation” exhibit detailing the imaginary collaborations between Miuccia Prada and Elsa Schiaparelli, the Costume Institue at the Metropolitan Museum of Art has announced its Spring 2013 exhibit as “Punk: Chaos to Couture.” The show—which will open May 9th and run through August 11—will detail the expansion of punk street style in the 1970s (think Pat Benatar, The Ramones) to its influence on modern-day high fashion. Designers in the exhibit will include Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, and Alexander Wang, among others. “Since its origins, punk has had an incendiary influence on fashion,” Andrew Bolton, curator of The Costume Institute, said in a statement. “Designers continue to capture [punk's] youthful rebelliousness and aggressive forcefulness.” We can’t wait to see punk take over The Met!
