What a show! Madonna scored big with her half-time show during last night’s Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis. Her 12-minute set—in which she dressed in head-to-toe Givenchy, Bulgari earrings, and a Philip Treacy headdress—included some of her biggest hits, like “Vogue,” “Music,” “Express Yourself,” mixed in with her new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’” featuring cheerleaders M.I.A. and Nicki Minajand even a Material Girl-remix of “Party Rock Anthem” with LMFAO. For her finale, she performed “Like a Prayer,” joined by a choir and Cee Lo Green. “People say everything has a limit, but limits do not exist with Madonna,” said Givenchy Haute Couture designer Riccardo Tisci, who created all of her looks for the show. So, what did you think? Total touchdown?! (And, oh yeah, the Giants won.) See more amazing moments from Madonna’s Super Bowl half-time show in the gallery!

Who Is Philip Treacy? Meet the Hat Designer to the Stars

May 4, 2011 @ 5:50 pm

When princesses and pop stars want a statement-making hat they turn to their favorite milliner: Philip Treacy (shown with Kate Winslet). Recently, his fanciful creations graced the heads of Sarah Jessica Parker, Serena Williams, and 37 members of the Royal Wedding party. So who is Mr. Treacy? The Irish-born designer has been creating toppers since the age of five, when he made miniature hats for his sisters’ dolls, and he later honed his sewing skills at Dublin’s National College of Art and Design and London’s Royal College of Art. Just before his graduation, Treacy showed his hats to Tatler fashion director Isabella Blow, who took the young designer under her wing. Treacy opened up shop in the basement of Blow’s London home, and eventually scored jobs designing hats for Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Ralph Lauren, and more. The five-time British Accessory Designer of the Year award winner has a loyal following: Lady Gaga, Demi Moore, and the British royal family are some of his best clients. SJP Pays Tribute To McQueen At SATC2 Premiere

May 28, 2010 @ 10:22 am

For the London premiere of Sex and The City 2, Sarah Jessica Parker paid tribute to her good friend the late Alexander McQueen in a stunning silk and lace bustier gown from his Spring 2008 collection. The actress’s homage to the British design legend didn’t stop there: She paired the gown with a towering tulle headpiece by McQueen’s frequent collaborator Phillip Treacy and a black armband encrusted with Fred Leighton diamond clips as a sign of mourning. This is the second time a McQueen-Treacy combo has produced an unforgettable look for SJP. The star famously wore a lime green chiffon dress and butterfly-strewn hat by the duo to Sex and The City: The Movie‘s London premiere in 2008. Parker’s memorial to McQueen continues stateside on June 7th where she’ll present the CFDA’s Special Tribute Award in his honor.
