These Musilova sandals are the product of Preen’s collaboration with Aldo’s Aldo Rise program, which aims to help rising brands like Preen inhabit the spotlight. And with fans like Hough, they’re doing just that! With fall being a season of dark hues, we’re thrilled to see stars livening up the red carpet in bold prints. January Jones worked a pelican print Wes Gordon dress at the 41st Annual Peace Over Violence Humanitarian Awards, Michelle Pfeiffer opted for metallic Barbara Bui dress for the 8th Annual Elyse Walker Pink Party, Kerry Washington tried a tropical style by British designer Mary Katrantzou for The Details premiere, and Olivia Munn attended the Courage in Journalism Awards wearing a psychedelic patterned Peter Pilotto style. “You have to have a little bit of fun, especially with prints,” advised Katrantzou of wearing in-your-face looks. “We all need a little bit of color and humor in our lives. Wear it confidently.” Agreed! Tell us: Which of these prints would you wear?

Summer Look We Love: Feminine Florals

Pretty floral dresses are in full bloom on the red carpet, as seen on Keira Knightley (in embroidered Valentino), Elizabeth Banks (in Peter Pilotto), Emma Stoneand Katharine McPhee (both in Dolce & Gabbana). The key to this style is to play up the power of the petals—skip the overpowering shoes and bulky accessories in favor of bare arms and neutral heels. There’s no better way to strut through summer. Or to your next garden party.

Found It! Elizabeth Banks’s Hot Pink Lipstick

May 22, 2012 @ 5:00 pm

Elizabeth Banks defied the don’t-match-your-lipstick-to-your-dress rule at the New York City premiere of What to Expect When You’re Expecting—and we loved it! “This is a case where matching a lip to a dress actually works because it ties the whole look together,” her makeup artist Gita Bass told InStyle.com exclusively. Bass used Make Up For Ever’s Rouge Artiste Natural in Soft Fuchsia, a sheer, ultra-hydrating lipstick that can be layered for maximum impact to play up the punchy pink detail of her Peter Pilotto design. “I was so inspired by the gorgeous beaded flowers on Elizabeth’s dress and wanted to transform her into a glamorous spring goddess,” Bass added. Pick up your own tube for $19 at sephora.com.
