After watching a screening of The Great Gatsby in 3-D, Gwen Stefani and Katy Perry made their way to the Top of the Standard in Lower Manhattan to party Gatsby-style with the cast, including stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and director Baz Luhrmann. “I hope [the audience] takes away the desire to have some rocking out great parties, wear groovy frocks, play the soundtrack, and have a few glasses of champagne!” director Baz Lurhmann told InStyle.com at the screening, hosted by Quintessentially Lifestyle at the Modern Museum of Art. The Great Gatsby opens in theaters Friday, May 10. Click the photo for more.

Katy Perry (in Vera Wang) was on hand at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City to honor Vera Wang for her work supporting DKMS at the the 7th Annual Delete Blood Cancer DKMS Gala. “I’m just honored to be honored,” Wang told InStyle.com before taking the stage to accept accolades for her Share the Love Campaign with Leighton Meester, as the two teamed up to promote and sell a T-shirt with her Lovestruck fragrance with proceeds going directly to DKMS, an organization that raises awareness for blood cancer and empowers people to become bone marrow donors. “It’s impressive how many lives they save!” The evening was filled with musical performances by Jill Scott and country group Lady Antebellum, as well as inspirational speeches, including a video message from Meester, who couldn’t be in attendance. “As thankful as I am, as truly blessed and grateful that I can be to be part of the DKMS family, I can say that I am mostly motivated by the survivors. The survivors are my heroes,” Meester said in her video. To learn more about how you can become a donor head to deletebloodcancer.org. Plus, click the photo to see more.
If you weren’t already eagerly awaiting Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, the utterly decadent costumes designed by Miuccia Prada and Catherine Martin will completely lure you in. Prada, who first collaborated with Luhrmann on Romeo + Juliet, selected garments from prior collections that already had 1920s elements and re-styled them for each of the two balls that take place in the movie. The gorgeous result is a bespoke collection displayed not only in the movie (in theaters May 10) but also the new exhibition, Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby at the Prada Epicenter in Soho. It marks the first time ever that Prada and Miu Miu garments are housed under the same roof, and we were there to see the exquisite sequin, crystal, and pearl-encrusted costumes up close at the New York opening, along with Prada-clad guests Florence Welch, Katy Perry, the film’s stars Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher, and the collaborators Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada. In the novel, F. Scott Fitzgerald transformed parties into characters themselves, and Prada was able to do the same with the exhibit. Mirroring the lavishness of the costumes, the downtown space is decorated with custom Gatsby wallpaper, screens with behind-the-scenes montages, and cases of ornate accessories. “I wish I could have been in the movie just to wear that costume,” we heard one guest whisper to another. We’ve never wanted to be Daisy Buchanan more.
The exhibit will be on display at the Soho Epicenter through May 12 and then travels to Prada’s Tokyo Epicenter store and the IFC Mall in Shanghai. Click to see more photos.

Four years after Worldwide Orphans Foundation founder Dr. Jane Aronson met Amy Poehler at an event, the star’s life has taken on a whole new role—supporter of Aronson’s cause to transform the lives of orphaned children in third-world countries. “Like most people who meet her and hear her, I instantly believed in her and fell in love,” Poehler said of Aronson. In January, the Parks and Recreation star traveled to Haiti on behalf of the foundation to experience its work first-hand, and her involvement came full circle last night when she hosted a WWO fundraising soiree in Los Angeles, where she inspired her star pals Aubrey Plaza, Ahna O’Reilly, Sean Hayes, and Alison Pill to learn more about the issues at hand. “Amy told me that when she went to Haiti it was the littlest things that she did that mattered,” Plaza told InStyle.com at the event, where she perused photos of the organization’s work put together by the photo-printing site Shutterfly.com. For Poehler, the evening was about proving that change can happen one step at a time. “The orphan crisis almost seems too enormous to fix, right? Jane has taught me, and I’ve learned by example, that’s not true,” she said. “You just roll up your sleeves and start working. You’re creating a better future, you’re creating a better world, you’re creating a world that’s full of more love and you’re easing the pain of children all over the world.” Click the photo to see more from the party, and to learn more and donate to the cause, visit wwo.org.

At the release party for his book Projects at Hollywood’s legendary Chateau Marmont, photographer extraordinaire Brian Bowen Smith found himself on the opposite side of the camera, with stars (and subjects!) Miley Cyrus, Cindy Crawford, and Cat Deeley celebrating Smith’s latest accomplishment. After guests previewed the photographer’s most-iconic works on the old-school ViewMaster 3D toys stationed at each table, hosts Emmy Rossum and Marc Jacobs took to the stage to introduce the man of the hour. “I couldn’t believe in my whole life that I’d be in this moment,” Smith said in a speech. “It’s overwhelming, and if I could hug everyone, I would!” The sentiment was shared by Rossum. “The Chateau Marmont is kind of quintessential old Hollywood, and his pictures, a lot of them are black and white and they’re very classic,” she told us. “I think it kind of all fits.” We agree!
