And the countdown has begun! There’s only a little more than a week left until the fall/winter 2014 collections debut at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, which means you only have a finite amount of time to memorize the schedule before the fashion frenzy hits Manhattan (and Brooklyn, this time around). Read ahead for a breakdown of when and where your favorite designers are showing this season.
After the 2014 Golden Globes earlier this month and last night’s Grammys, it’s clear which red carpet trends are here to stay. Stars like Miranda Lambert (in a custom Pamella Roland) rose to the top in shades of fiery red while the quintessential color combo, black and white, dominated once again in stand-out prints (see: Paula Patton in Nicolas Jebran).
A handful of A-listers , from Sarah Hyland (in Emilio Pucci) to Sara Bareilles (in Blumarine), eschewed the usual floor-sweeping gowns in favor for shorter lengths, baring legs for days. And let’s not forget about the blinding high-shine metallics that lit up the red carpet, like Taylor Swift‘s metallic chain-mail Gucci design. From high contrast to statement accessories, see which celebrities rocked the five major fashion trends last night.
Although Modern Family star Sarah Hyland tried on several dresses before settling on the Pamella Rolland column she ultimately wore at this year’s SAG Awards, the road to finding “the one” became more complex than the actress initially intended.
“[The dress] was actually a lot shorter,” Hyland tells InStyle.com. “I call these mullet dresses—so the mullet was shorter than this, but I was like, ‘It’s the SAG Awards! I want it to be more fancy,’ so, in 24 hours, they remade this dress,” she said, adding that the dress arrived Saturday morning at 8 a.m. A mullet never looked so good, Sarah!
Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Gabby Douglas is making the most of her moment in the spotlight, attending both the Golden Globes (in lime green Pamella Roland) and the SAG Awards (in purple David Meister Signature). For both occasions, she chose looks that were inspired by the glitzy and glamorous fashion choices she makes on the floor, beam, and (her specialty), the bars. “I was looking back at my gymnastics career, and I’m like, ‘Wow, I did lime green in my leotard, so why not bring it to the red carpet?‘” Douglas told InStyle.com at the InStyle/WB Golden Globes after-party. “I love this dress because it stands out.” However, getting ready for a red carpet event is a new experience all together. “It’s so different because at the Olympics I took 20 minutes to get ready, I just put on a leo,” she said. “I listen to music and put on makeup. And for the Golden Globes, it’s two hours prior to the event!” We’re loving her gymnastics-meets-Hollywood style! What do you think?

Sarah Jessica Parker and Jane Seymour had a charitable night at the The Pierre Hotel in New York City, where the two actresses attended the Alzheimer’s Association‘s annual Forget Me Not Gala: An Evening To End Alzheimer’s. “Thanks to all who made last night’s gala a huge success!” the non-profit tweeted. Parker paired her L’Wren Scott dress with a YSL jacket, Fred Leighton jewels, and Manolo Blahnik shoes, while Seymour chose an ivory halter gown with silver beaded waist and neckline by Pamella Roland. The 45th annual Country Music Association Awards took place in Nashville last night, and white gowns overwhelmed the red carpet! Taylor Swift went for a strapless organza and tulle design by J. Mendel; Kellie Pickler shimmered in silver Pamella Roland; Faith Hill wore a beaded gown with sheer panels by Chado Ralph Rucci; and LeAnn Rimes decided on a Badgley Mischka lace gown with a ruffle train. “They’re supremely talented,” judge Jennifer Lopez said of the top 12 women who performed during American Idol‘s 90-minute show last night. While the contestants shined on stage, Lopez shined from the judges’ table in a one-shoulder silver embroidered draped dress by designer Pamella Roland. “This dress is one of my favorite looks from the spring collection,” Roland told InStyle exclusively. “I can’t imagine anyone looking better in it than Jennifer.” Representatives for the label told us the dress will be available at Bergdorf Goodman stores.
