Despite being hospitalized due to injuries earlier in the week, Karina Smirnoff brought her signature energy and expert dance moves to the ninth episode of Dancing With The Stars—the semi-finals! This time, she and her football pro partner Jacoby Jones went for flirty costumes for their two dances, the Argentine Tango and Lindy Hop. “For our first dance, the tango, I wanted the dress to resonate with the darkness of the dance, like a woman walking around the back alleys of Buenos Aires looking for trouble,” Smirnoff told InStyle.com. “The dress for the Lindy Hop (shown) was flirtatious, but it was all about the ’50s and polka dots. I designed it to flow while we flipped around the dance floor.” At the end of it all, their persistence worked: The two managed to achieve their first ever perfect score and tied for first place—one step closer to the Mirrorball Trophy! It’s the grand finale of Fashion Star tonight—I can’t believe the show has flown by so fast! I wanted a true show-stopper to go out with a bang, so I looked at the Falguni & Shane Peacock collection. This Indian-based designer shows at New York Fashion Week and always works with crazy shapes, silhouettes, and textures. I just had to try on this gown after seeing the awesome architectural detail on the neck and hips. On my feet, I went for super high, sparkly silver Jimmy Choo platforms, and a diamond cuff by Carolee. Gothic black nails, and a moody smoky eye—I was ready to rock our show’s most dramatic episode.
