During this season of The Bachelorette, Emily Maynard (a former Bachelorette herself!) is sharing her top fashion picks from the show with us each week. Last night’s episode included helicopter rides and a hysterical Mr. America pageant, along with a healthy dose of one of Maynard‘s favorite things: Sequins! Desiree Hartsock and her remaining suitors headed to Atlantic City, and much to Maynard’s delight, the clothing choices were as bold and full of sparkle as the city itself. “If you watched my season of The Bachelorette, you know there is very rarely a sequin I can pass up,” Maynard told InStyle.com exclusively. “Of course all of my favorite outfits from the episode were covered in sequins!” Click the photo to see all the outfits Maynard loved on last night’s episode, then check back every week to see more of her favorite looks.
Each week, Shakira showcases a range of dynamic styles on The Voice, and we love giving you the complete how-to on each look. With the finale taking place tonight and tomorrow, we just had to ask Shakira’s hairstylist Kim Kimble if the star has any dramatic hairdos in the works. “I think we’re going to see her going back to her curly hair again,” she told InStyle.com. “That’s the direction we’re planning to go, but you never know, it could change! There may be a new color change, but we’ll see how it goes.” Shakira has rocked her trademark blonde hue for years, so we’d be surprised to see her shift shades (though, The Voice is full of surprises!). And among the many looks Kimble has created for the singer this season, one style in particular stands out. “I loved when she wore bone-straight hair,” she said. “Shakira doesn’t do straight hair a lot, but we did it very sleek one night, and I liked it a lot.” The feeling is mutual! Catch the finale tonight on NBC at 9 p.m. EST.

This week’s episode of Mad Men showed how truly different the women on the show are, not only with their dialogue, but also their costumes. It’s all intentional, thanks to the show’s costume designer, Janie Bryant, who gave InStyle.com the inside scoop on how the sixties looks reflect their characters’ personalities in episode 12. For Megan, she’s fashion-forward, as seen in this three-piece tapestry ensemble. “It’s bohemian and artistic,” said Bryant. “It encompasses all the things I love about Megan’s character.” For Betty, she’s “all about the façade of perfection,” said Bryant, as seen in her pastel tweed suits. For Joan, she’s never shy to take on bold color. “Joan is all about standing out, and she always does,” Bryant quipped. Click to get more inside scoop straight from the costume designer.
Ashley Madekwe and Joico’s artistic director Damien Carney are back with a new tutorial in their Drab to Fab hair how-to video series, and the two pros are joining forces to give us a complete breakdown on the season’s most-popular style. “This is the one look everyone always asks for — relaxed, beachy waves,” Madekwe said. “It’s the kind of style you can wear all day long, take from day to night, and it’s great for the summer.” After lathering up with Joico’s K-PAK Shampoo and Conditioner ($15 and $17; joico.com for locations), Carney used the brand’s Power Whip Mousse ($17; joico.com) on the model before working his magic with a curling iron and the brand’s Power Spray hairspray ($17; joico.com). ”You don’t need to be a perfectionist,” Carney advised. “In fact, a little bit of the imperfections are what makes it quite perfect!” Watch the complete how-to in the video above.

Kate Hudson‘s complexion never ceases to look flawless, and for her latest Almay campaign, the star got her glow on to show off the effects of the brand’s new multi-tasking CC cream ($9; almay.com). “To have to apply sunscreen and then apply makeup or foundation over it can be costly and a bit of a hassle,” Hudson said. “The Almay CC Cream allows you to have both in one, and it can protect your skin while you’re off at the kids’ soccer games, or playing volleyball at the beach.” We got an exclusive look at her upcoming TV spot, in which Kate continues to be her bubbly, fun-loving self. “It’s more real life, and you’re kind of getting an intimate moment with the real Kate — not just the Almay ambassador,” director Lisa Cholodenko said. Let’s hear it for the girls! Stars like Laura Linney, Hailee Steinfeld, and Max Mara‘s Nicola Maramotti aligned with the lovely ladies of Mad Men at the Annual Women in Film Crystal + Lucy awards in Beverly Hills, which celebrated not only women in the industry but also the 40th anniversary of the WIF organization. Held at the famed Beverly Hilton Hotel, the night’s theme of “Close Up” was mirrored in the sleek color palette with Swarovski-encrusted decor, and guests were treated to a silent auction following the ceremony and dinner. “It’s really important for us to be here in this room to be pushing forward the understanding of women’s stories,” Jessica Paré told us. “I think that helps every woman not fall into stereotypes. You know, I think that women encompass so much.” Thanks to the warm atmosphere, nerves weren’t an issue for Linney when she picked up the Crystal Award for Excellence in Film. “It’s a little more comforting to be in this room of women because it’s a wide community,” she told InStyle. “We all go through the same thing even though our stories are very different. We have all been in this business for a while, and we’ve got good moment and bad moments, so it’s nice, actually.” Click the photo to take an inside look.

Pippa Middleton‘s carryall lasts her all year long. The royal-in-law has been spotted in this neutral tan shoulder bag—the “Vienna” style by London company Milli Millu—in fall, winter, and spring, and we caught up with the designer to find out why it works so well for Miss P. “The Vienna has a very chic timeless look that I think fits Pippa’s style perfectly,” said Mireia Llusia-Lindh, founder and creative director of Milli Millu. “The combination of its sleek finish and very versatile cappuccino color on the outside and our incredibly practical signature interior on the inside with handy pockets for laptop, tablet, smart phone, and papers, makes it the perfect day-to-day bag for someone like Pippa, who is always on the go.” The bag is made with light brown leather, features a gold lock, and is 15 inches long by 10.6 inches high. Scoop up one for $721 (the brand ships around the world) at millimillu.com.

We were disappointed to see Shakira‘s remaining contestant, Sasha Allen, exit The Voice last night, but thankfully she kept Sasha’s diva spirit alive with her stylish looks all week. For the live performances on Monday, Shakira styled a dazzling Swarovski necklace as a headpiece to offset her crisp Acqua top. “It fit snugly around her head and we thought it really added to the look,” the judge’s hair guru Kim Kimble exclusively told InStyle.com. Kimble chose to style her hair in a straight style to complement the bejeweled accessory without being distracting. “It’s very noveau bohemian.” The next night, Shakira let her detailed Altuzarra jacket take center stage with a pulled back ‘do in which Kimble curled the judge’s strands and raked them into a high ponytail. “A dab of wax and a little hairspray will help keep the top really smooth and knock out any flyaways and frizz,” says Kimble. Try out the same the same technique to upgrade your gym ponytail and create more volume by simply teasing the crown of your hair like Kimble did for Shakira. “It was very simple and chic, I like to think of it as couture secretary style,” she added. “The jacket had strong detailed neckline and we wanted to show that off so having hair down wouldn’t have done it justice.” The finale of The Voice airs next Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c on NBC.
