If you need further evidence that rules were meant to be broken, look to Jessica Biel, who brought summery turquoise eyeliner right into the fall season last night at the Museum of Modern Art’s tribute to Tilda Swinton in New York City. To create her look, Biel’s makeup artist Kara Yoshimoto Bua used Chanel’s Waterproof Liner in Jade ($30; chanel.com) along her bottom lashes. “We were inspired by Jessica’s dress from the Chanel 2014 runway, and wanted to create the look of a simplified, modern Egyptian Nefertiti,” Bua said. “I blended the liner below the lash line, outward to a point, and inside the inner waterline.” On a budget? We also love Urban Decay’s 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Electric ($19; sephora.com) and CoverGirl’s version in Aquamarine Ink ($7; drugstore.com), which both create similar effects. Follow Biel’s lead by keeping the rest of your makeup minimal, with slight definition on your top lid, and finish with a tawny nude lip. Since blue and green tones make such a big impact, playing with too many colors at once can create an overdone effect.
Want to carry the same everyday bag as Jessica Biel and help the planet in the process? You can! Jessica has partnered with her brother Justin Biel and friend Grason Ratowsky to launch BARE, a socially conscious accessories label featuring bags made of reused coffee bean sacks. The collection features pieces that are handmade in Colorado—a clutch, duffel, tote, and backpack—with each bag being one-of-a-kind. The earthy yet hip designs combine function, durability, and individuality with an urban feel. How did they come up with the concept for the designs? Ratowsky’s father brought him back a giant java bag from Costa Rica and the idea for the BARE Burlap Collection was born. Going forward, the team is considering using everything and anything to create the eco-friendly bags, including sailboat sails and grain sacks from breweries. A hands-on charitable giving component is also down the road, as is expansion into other types of products. For $180 you can get the BARE Salento Tote, Jessica’s favorite piece from the line, shop the collection at baremade.com.

New York’s Fashion Week is already in full swing and Hollywood’s biggest stars have been making their presence known! On Friday, Jessica Biel was the host for the Dior and Saks Fifth Avenue dinner celebrating the brand’s Fall/Winter 2013 prêt-à-porter collection now available at the Fifth Avenue department store. Inside, the entire third floor was transformed into a hall of mirrors to showcase the winter collection along with inflatable mirror balls and live runway footage of the collection displayed on TV screens. The brand also took over Saks’ front window displays with visual installations that were inspired by the collection and custom made for the store. Guests included stylist and designer Rachel Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman, along with Ashley Madekwe, Maria Sharapova and more. At tonight’s CFDA Awards in New York City, Oscar de la Renta will be presented with the Founders Award by pal and frequent de la Renta dresser Hillary Clinton. This is one of the most prestigious honors in the industry, so we’re offering our early congratulations for the 80-year-old designer. The Founders Award—given in honor of Eleanor Lambert, who founded the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 1962—recognizes people who have made their mark on the fashion world. De la Renta certainly has done that throughout his 45-plus year career, both on and off the runway. In addition to his romantic and feminine designs being a red carpet staple for Hollywood heavyweights Sarah Jessica Parker and Jessica Biel, he also helps usher in a new class of Oscar Girls, like Jessica Chastain and Allison Williams. Off the carpet, de la Renta also is a devout supporter of the arts, serving on the boards of several organizations, including The Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall and the nonprofit New Yorkers for Children.
