With the 65th annual Cannes Film Festival in its second week, ethereal white lace dresses dominated the red carpet. We spotted Diane Kruger in a custom Nina Ricci gown trimmed with ostrich feathers, and Kirsten Dunst in a romantic laser-cut Dolce & Gabbana design paired with platform Charlotte Olympia pumps. Saks Does Up Its Holiday Windows For Charity!

Saks Fifth Avenue dressed their holiday windows with a charitable spirit! The department store invited the designers Stella McCartney, Proenza Schouler, Nina Ricci, Olivier Theyskens, Rag & Bone, and Erdem to create one-of-a-kind dresses to display in a series of dreamy “bubbles and snowflakes” themed tableaux. Beyond just looking good, all the exclusive gowns are being auctioned off through Charitybuzz to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Bidding starts today and opens at $500—which dress has you ready to make a donation?

Mila Kunis’s Golden Globes Dress Was Made in Four Days

Mila Kunis didn’t pick a dress off the runway or off the rack for her Golden Globes appearance, where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress. It was all custom. “This dress came as a sketch,” the Black Swan actress told us at the Critics Choice Awards in Los Angeles, where she was dressed in a black Nini Ricci look. “We had tried on other dresses. Then, this sketch came in and we thought the sketch was beautiful. In four days, this person made the dress, and whipped it up!” Kunis’s custom creation turned out to be an emerald green one-shoulder gown by Vera Wang (shown). How speedy Wang was in creating her beautiful look!

Olivier Theyskens Takes Over at Theory

Best known for his work at major French houses Rochas and Nina Ricci, the supremely talented Olivier Theyskens has now been named creative director at the decidedly all-American Theory. You may recall that the Belgian designer also has a capsule collection for the label, Olivier Theyskens for Theory. While he will continue that line, now Olivier will take the reigns at Theory overall as well. His first collection, according to WWD, is expected next season. We can’t wait to see how his darkly romantic signature translates into sleek, contemporary workwear.

What Happens Leading Up to Fashion Week? Watch The Day Before

With Fashion Week rapidly approaching, the Sundance Channel will return with their series, The Day Before, to remind us of all the pre-show madness. The miniseries, which will air from September 8 to September 13, will feature six designers—Diane Von Furstenberg, Versace, Alexander Wang, Narciso Rodriguez, Nina Ricci and Jeremy Scott—on the eve of their Fall 2010 runway shows. We’re especially looking forward to self-described “drama queen” Donatella Versace’s episode (airing Sept. 9), where we’ll get to see the house of Versace prepare for their extravagant runway show in Milan. “It’s time to question everything,” says Versace of her looming show. “It’s torture!” Check out the teaser clip above.
