Katy Perry’s Stylist Still Loves Her Grammys Dress: “We Took That Memo with a Grain of Salt”

It’s been almost two months since Katy Perry “missed” the memo and dared to bare at the Grammys in that Gucci dress, and her stylist, Johnny Wujek, is still in love with what a moment it was. “I loved Katy’s Grammy look so much. I loved how it wowed everybody. Everybody who walked by commented [on it] or was staring,” Wujek told InStyle.com, refering to the gaping keyhole that helped his pop star client reveal her ample assets. “That day was so fun. We took that memo with a grain of salt.” Still, the jade column did help her cover up, too, with its full length and long sleeves—a nod to her more demure sartorial choices as of late. “We go through phases. It’s an evolution. We’ve done the young, playful, candy, cupcake thing and now she’s growing into a woman. We’re shaking it up.” We can’t wait to see what’s up next!

That’s a wrap! Awards season officially came to a close following Sunday night’s Oscars, but we’re already eager to recreate the winning nail looks we’ve spotted. We put together a list of the 25 best manicures from the Golden Globes, Grammys, Oscars, and every ceremony in between! Jessica Alba kicked off the nail game on a high note at the Globes, pairing her citrus-toned dress with a pastel pink lacquer, while Rihanna and Anne Hathaway matched their manis to their couture ensembles. Hathaway in particular has opted for fun and creative designs each time she hit the red carpet—at the Oscars, her pale rose nails were inscribed with the initials of her maternal and paternal grandmothers. This awards season the red carpet was filled with many shades of its namesake hue! At the Golden Globes, Jennifer Lawrence walked the red carpet in a coral organza Dior Haute Couture gown, for the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Jessica Chastain chose a figure skimming scarlet Alexander McQueen column, Rihanna picked a vibrant crimson Azzedine Alaïa dress for this year’s Grammys, and at the Academy Awards, Jennifer Aniston donned a strapless gown in classic Valentino Red. What’s it like to prep for the Grammys? Fun, fun, fun! That’s why we asked Best R&B Performance nominee Estelle to give us the inside scoop on her getting-ready process. “I wanted to do something that reflected how I am feeling right now, and something different,” she told InStyle.com. “I needed looks that were easy to wear, and shoes that I could walk in, as things got hectic. I always look for things that are easy and breezy for the day and defined for night.” The singer chose three different outfits for three different moments: red carpet, after-party, and after-party performance. What makes a great Grammys look? Fabulous shoes! We asked the stars attending the InStyle and Warner Music Group party to reveal their designer footwear for the evening, and captured all the high heel action on video. Christina Perri described her Gucci pair as “comfortable” and “totally worth it,” Kimbra said her Miu Miu sandals made her “feel like a princess,” and Dita Von Teese pulled her sky-high Christian Louboutins straight from his Paris atelier. “They were something he was working on,” Von Teese says. “He was like, ‘Just take them,’ and the matching bag, too!” Watch the clip above to get more inside scoop on the hottest (and highest) heels of the night!

Not only did she take home Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her vocals on Gotye’s mega-hit track, “Somebody That I Used to Know,” she also doubled-down on fashion, wearing two different looks by Jamie Lee Major. The one thing she didn’t change? Her sparkling Miu Miu heels, a gold and crystal-studded design that sells for $2,100 per pair at nordstrom.com. “They’re pretty amazing, aren’t they?” the artist told InStyle.com at the InStyle/Warner Music after-party. “I’m not a big bling-bling girl, to be honest, but when I saw these, I just thought, ‘Gosh! They make me feel like a princess!’” And we can see why!
