See OPI’s New Minnie Mouse Nail Polishes!

May 20, 2013 @ 2:25 pm

Your manicure is about to get a lot cuter! To follow up on the success of last year’s classic Minnie Mouse lacquers, OPI is launching a second range of colors inspired by Disney’s most fashionable mascot. The Couture de Minnie collection is giving Minnie Mouse a high-fashion upgrade by including runway-ready hues and edgy textures. “This year, OPI is exploring a different side of Minnie Mouse,” said the brand’s Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. “The collection draws inspiration from Minnie’s iconic style and incorporates trends most recently seen on the runways.” We especially love the red and white glitter lacquer, which allows you to repurpose the icon’s polka-dotted skirt as nail art! The Couture de Minnie collection hits stores nationwide in June, priced at $9 per bottle, and a set of four mini-polishes is available now for $13 at ulta.com. Click through our gallery to preview the whole range!

Kim Kardashian’s Latest Strange Beauty Treatment: The Fish Pedicure

May 6, 2013 @ 12:10 pm

Kim Kardashian isn’t afraid to try new beauty treatments—vampire facial, anyone?—and now the reality star tried another at a spa in Santorini, Greece: The fish pedicure. The treatment involves you dipping your feet into warm water and allowing small Doctor Fish to remove and clean dead skin from your soles. The procedure has been controversial for years and certainly isn’t for the squeamish. But, guess who’s squeamish?! Check out Kim’s hilarious reaction to the pescetarian pedi in the clip above, plus a much calmer reaction from sister Kourtney. Then, tell us in the comments: Would you ever try a fish pedicure?

Talk about nailing it! Kate Hudson, Taraji P. Henson, and Ke$ha added creative elements to their manicures recently, with Hudson sporting a pink nail with a silver tip, and Henson lacquering up in a chic black and white print. However, Ke$ha’s manicure proved to be the most eye-catching design we’ve seen yet. The singer topped off her optical pattern by adding strips of false lashes to her ring finger. Click the photo to take a closer look at each design.

Ever since Jennifer Hudson lacquered up in Chrome Girl’s greige hue in “Hard to Get” for the 2013 Oscars, business has been good for the up-and-coming nail line—so good that Bones star David Boreanaz and his wife Jaime had to launch the brand early. “After Jennifer Hudson wore our polish to the Oscars, that’s when we thought ‘Okay, we are doing this now,’” Jaime told us at the launch party for the lacquers over the weekend, held at the private home of CAA agent Tracy Brennan. “We did a soft launch party at Planet Beauty in Los Angeles, and it was so successful, they decided to put us in all their stores.” The line, which was a collaboration between Boreneaz and her longtime friend Melissa Ravo, features a 4-free formula that leaves harmful chemicals like formaldehyde and DBP out of the mix. Aside from Hudson, The Carrie Diaries‘s star AnnaSophia Robb is already a fan. “They have some great colors!” she said. “I love Pucker Up and No Tan Lines.” Shop the full line of 18 shades—including Hudson and Robb’s favorites—for $10 a bottle at chromegirl.com. Awww! Will and Kate’s Baby Inspire New Nail Polish Color

Apr 29, 2013 @ 3:10 pm

Oh, baby! Duchess Catherine and Prince William still have a few more months before their little one arrives, but Butter London has already created a nail polish to commemorate the mini-monarch. Named “Pitter Patter” to mirror the sound of tiny footsteps soon to be heard all over Buckingham Palace, the shade is an ultra-deep eggplant with dynamic plum shimmer. Ever since Roman Emperors donned the bold hue, purple has been commonly considered a sign of nobility, and we can’t think of a more stylish way to celebrate the arrival of the royal baby. This marks the third regal lacquer created by Butter London, with the shimmery violet “No More Waity, Katie,” celebrating Will and Kate’s engagement, and the lavender steel “Lillibet’s Jubilee” to honor Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years on the throne. Shop Pitter Patter now for $15 at butterlondon.com.

The Most Durable Top Coat You Will Ever Buy

Apr 27, 2013 @ 5:00 pm

Wave goodbye to chipped manicures and faded nail colors! Seche Vite’s Dry Fast Top Coat is so tough, it will keep your lacquer intact for over a week, which is why it’s won the best top coat award in our Best Beauty Buys eight times. “It penetrates every layer of polish so nails are less-likely to chip,” said London manicurist Anatole Rainey, who has lacquered up the famous fingers of Adele, Kate Moss, and Keira Knightley. The product’s French name translates to “dry fast,” and it certainly lives up to the title—the top coat is ready to go 90 seconds after you sweep it on, making unexpected post-mani smudges a thing of the past. Pick up a bottle for $8 at sallybeauty.com.
