Jennifer Hudson and Brittany Snow Premiere Call Me Crazy, Plus More Parties!

Apr 17, 2013 @ 2:21 pm

Jennifer Hudson (in Ungaro) and Brittany Snow (in Naeem Khan) attended the world premiere of Lifetime’s special five-part film series Call Me Crazy: A Five Film last night in Los Angeles. The series of five shorts, each directed by and starring different personalities, focus on different scenarios of what happens to the loved ones of people coping with mental illness. ”I wanted to be a part of it because I felt like making awareness about mental illness is important,” Hudson told reporters. “But also working with Jennifer Aniston [who also stars]. We were in talks about working together on a couple of projects and this is the start of that for us. I love her. It’s like, ‘Cool. I like this.’ It must be a Jennifer thing.” The films premiere on Lifetime this Saturday, April 20, at 8/7c. Click the photo to see more celebrities partying this week!

Oscars 2013: Michelle Obama Wears Glittering, Custom Naeem Khan

One of the biggest moments at tonight’s Academy Awards was when the First Lady of the United States appeared via video feed from the Governors Ball in Washington, D.C. to announce Argo, the winner for Best Picture. Ever an icon of classical but on-trend style, Michelle Obama stayed true to form in a dark, glittering sleeveless gown by Naeem Khan. The custom-made smoke grey and silver art deco beaded gown’s square neckline paired well with Michelle’s dangling Sutra Silver at Fragments earrings, which highlighted her new fringe. Along with shades of pastel, glittering metallics marked one of the biggest trends of the night—we saw it on Naomi Watts, Halle Berry, and Nicole Kidman too.

Naeem Khan had some of his biggest fans sitting front row at his fall 2013 runway show—and they just so happen to be Mr. and Mrs. Matt Damon. The actor, fresh off launching his World Water Day campaign, did not hold back on his supportive feelings for his pal’s handiwork, emphatically clapping, cheering, and smiling as each look passed him by. “Wow, this is amazing!” we saw him say to his wife, particularly about the final three crystal-covered slip and column gowns, shown above. “It’s lots of details, things molded to the body, and luxurious materials,” Khan told InStyle.com before the show of his opulent creations that caused jaw-dropping reactions. “We’re using pearls and crystals. Even the laces from France are amazing and the embroideries are each done by hand with silk threads and gold threads.” We can see why it was worth the wow!

Deep V Dresses Have Stars Taking the Plunge

As summer transitions into fall, there’s one silhouette celebrities keep reaching for—the ultra-deep V. “I’m always trying to push the boundaries,” Jenna Dewan-Tatum told InStyle.com of her Naeem Khan look at the designer’s fashion show during New York Fashion Week. “Everyone always tries to hold me back, like, ‘Jen, be a little bit more closed.’ This is my nice happy medium.” Zoe Saldana (in Gucci), Nicole Richie (in Maria Lucia Hohan), Lea Michele (in Emilio Pucci), and Malin Akerman (in J. Mendel) seem to agree, all wearing their own interpretations of the exposed look in the past two weeks. “The deep V is a tricky look to pull off but it really plays to proportion and lengthens the body,” celebrity stylist Taylor Jacobson, who dresses Kate Beckinsale and Ashley Benson, told InStyle.com. Her tip: “Make sure to try on before you buy, and stick to delicate jewelry pieces to keep the look classy.” (You’ll notice each of the stars above are necklace-free, hint hint.) Dewan-Tatum also suggests walking out the door with some extra confidence. “You just have to work it,” she said. “Just own it. It doesn’t matter what your shape is. Everyone can wear a version of this and feel comfortable.” Inspired yet? Go for it!
