Skyfall Style: Severine’s Black Gown Features 60,000 Swarovski Crystals

Nov 8, 2012 @ 11:28 am

There’s always a sexy Bond girl in every James Bond movie, and when Skyfall, the 23rd film in the franchise, hits U.S. theaters tomorrow, you’ll meet the newest—Bérénice Marlohe, the seductive Parisian actress who plays Severine opposite Daniel Craig’s 007. Her come-hither look is worthy of staring on its own (Bond can prove that), but there’s something else to look out for while you watch the movie—a beautiful black gown with crystal tattoos stitched into it, a piece costume designer Jany Temime put together by hand (see an exclusive sketch, right). “Each Bond girl is iconic in her own way so I wanted to celebrate 007′s new leading lady, Severine, with an unforgettable dress,” Temime told InStyle.com. To do so, she used over 60,000 Swarovski Elements crystals, which were sewn onto the fine tulle and sheer fabric of the dress’ sleeves, neckline, back, and sides. “[The crystals] are the ultimate creative ingredients to capture one of the most significant scenes in the film,” said Temime. Meet Severine, see the dress, and get a new dose of Bond when Skyfall opens nationwide tomorrow (Friday, November 9).

Judi Dench Wore a 007 Crystal Tattoo to the London Skyfall Premiere

Oct 26, 2012 @ 1:14 pm

James Bond may have all the high-tech gadgets, but Agent M is the one bringing the bling! At the world premiere of Skyfall in London, Dame Judi Dench added extra sparkle to her powder blue gown by wearing a 007 crystal tattoo on the back of her neck. We thought it was a fun reminder of the butterfly and flower patterns we rocked in years past—and who better than the Dame to give it a secret agent twist? Skyfall opens in theaters nationwide November 9th.

Bérénice Marlohe’s Skyfall Premiere Dresses

With Skyfall set for U.S. theater release on November 9, James Bond himself (aka Daniel Craig) has been touring the world to promote the latest installment of the 007 film franchise. And the actor’s not doing it alone—Craig’s brought along his infamous Bond girls, and one in particular has been seducing us with her movie premiere fashion choices. French actress Bérénice Marlohe (who plays Sévérine) crushes the carpet each she steps out, whether it’s in, left to right, a glittering floor-length body-conscious dress from Elie Saab, a showstopping red Vivienne Westwood gown, a leather illusion number from Julien Macdonald, or a royal blue peplum bustier look, also from the British designer. Perhaps Marlohe’s feeling über-empowered because of her turn in Skyfall: The new Bond girl told InStyle‘s September issue that when preparing for the role, she was inspired by two very fierce creatures. “I decided to play her as a cross between a panther and a dragon,” she said. The actress definitely strikes the perfect balance between strong and sexy, even offscreen!  So, tell us: Which of Bérénice’s looks is your favorite?

Adele’s New Song for Skyfall: Listen Here!

Oct 2, 2012 @ 11:11 am

Adele let us know yesterday via Twitter (twice!) that she recorded the new theme song for the next Bond film, Skyfall (out in theaters Nov. 9), and that the track would be available this Friday here. But someone beat her to the draw: 30 seconds of the track has leaked online, and you can listen to it on the BBC. Each film’s theme song is a pivotal element of the iconic opening credit sequences, and through the years, giant contemporary musical artists have been tapped to write and/or perform it: Madonna, Carly Simon, Tina Turner, and Nancy Sinatra have all recorded their own versions. Adele’s powerful but melancholy voice will provide the backdrop for what the usual female-driven montage (perhaps featuring new Bond girl and InStyle favorite Bérénice Marlohe?). Listen to the leaked track here and tell us: do you like Adele as the newest musical Bond girl?

James Bond-Inspired Nail Polish: Coming Soon

Aug 15, 2012 @ 10:50 am

In honor of the golden anniversary of James Bond—the movie franchise turns 50 this year!—nail polish brand OPI created a gold leaf top coat aptly named The Man with the Golden Gun. “Bond beauties have graced the big screen with their dazzling looks and opulent style, and gold has always played a prominent role,” said OPI artistic director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. “Gold transcends time.” The new hue creates a chic texture by itself or layered on top of other colors. Shop the limited-edition lacquer for $30 starting in October, just in time for the new Daniel Craig-fronted Skyfall release, in theaters November 9th.

James Bond 007 Scent Coming Soon: For Men Everywhere, Including Yours

Jul 27, 2012 @ 2:00 pm

James Bond fanatics, we’ve found the fragrance for you! To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Bond films and the upcoming Daniel Craig-fronted Skyfall, Eon Productions teamed up with Procter & Gamble to create a scent inspired by everyone’s favorite spy. While we initially expected the spritzer to include notes of an Aston Martin’s leather interior and a martini (shaken, obviously), 007 is actually a masculine blend of apple, sandalwood, vetiver, and moss. Housed in a dark, textured flacon, the streamlined bottle looks right at home among Mr. Bond’s sophisticated gadgets! 007 launches internationally in September for $65 each, which gives you plenty of time to stock up before the November 9th Skyfall release.
