The Most Thrill Your Manicure Can Get: Bond-Inspired Nail Polish

Mar 26, 2013 @ 2:20 pm

Fresh on the heels of OPI‘s Skyfall-inspired collection, the nail brand is looking to James Bond once again to launch a six-piece nail polish range based on the franchise’s most-memorable vixens. “It has been a thrill to create color for the women who have captured Bond’s attention over the last six decades,” said OPI co-founder and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann. “Worn without a top coat, these Liquid Sand lacquers give nails a pebbled, matte finish worthy of captivating the Bond girls’ name.” The shades range from the Ursula Andress-inspired gold to high-impact brights, and we love how each polish imparts a fashion-forward matte effect in just one swipe. The Bond Girls collection hits stores in May for $9.50 per bottle—but you can get a sneak peek at the entire lineup right now in the gallery.

Every dress that hits the Oscars red carpet this Sunday will be special, but the one that will be worn by Skyfall Bond Girl Naomie Harris will be different than any other. That’s because she’s going to be representing the Red Carpet Green Dress initiative, a design contest started by James Cameron’s wife Suzy Amis Cameron, in which Harris will wear the winning design made of completely sustainable materials. This year, the contest winner is Michael Badger, a Ghanian-born fashion student at Atlanta’s Savannah College of Art & Design (above right). Part of his prize is getting the mentorship of a fashion designer when creating the piece, and the infamous Vivienne Westwood stepped in for this year’s duties. Currently, the mentor-student duo is putting the finishing touches on Harris’s gown—they shared this exclusive behind-the-scenes photo with InStyle.com—and it will be revealed this Sunday, February 24th on the Academy Awards red carpet. ”I’m thrilled,” Harris said of being involved. We can’t wait to see it debut!

Bérénice Marlohe Loves Smoky Eyes! How to Recreate the Look

Nov 12, 2012 @ 2:36 pm

Skyfall earned an impressive $518.6 million worldwide at the box office in its opening weekend, which makes it the top-grossing James Bond debut of all time! We can’t get enough of the high-octane 007 film, or Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe’s premiere ensembles. But what really caught our attention is how the actress topped off each of her gorgeous dresses with a sexy, smoky eye, taking her on-screen persona’s signature look to the red carpet. “I wanted to base her on something feminine but incorporate masculinity too,” she told InStyle‘s September issue. “So, I decided to play her as a cross between a panther and a dragon.” Perhaps we have her character, Severine, to thank for those smoldering feline eyes…
