Country’s brightest stars aligned last night for the 2013 CMA Awards in Nashville, with Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift, and newcomer Kacey Musgraves donning their most glamorous ensembles for their walk down the red carpet. Lambert and Swift were pretty in primary colors (Swift went for a dramatic red Elie Saab couture gown to match her trademark crimson lip, with Lambert opting for a royal blue Roberto Cavalli number). Musgraves, who took home the award for Best New Artist, stunned in an illusion Blumarine dress and a sparkly Swarovski clutch. One of our favorite performances of the night — aside from the cast of Duck Dynasty covering “Blurred Lines” — was when Kenny Rogers and Jennifer Nettles did a duet of “Islands in the Stream” and “The Gambler,” proving the timeless quality of both songs. Miranda Lambert in particular had a lot to celebrate: Her husband Blake Shelton was awarded Album of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, while Lambert herself received the honor of Female Vocalist of the Year for the fourth time! “I can’t believe I’m up here holding this right now, but I’m gonna try to represent for all the females who that want to be up-and-comers and just want to get their country voice out there,” she said in her heartfelt acceptance speech. “There’s room for all of us girls, and we’re a team, and we’re gonna stick together.” So sweet, and so well-deserved!
Country Music Charity Auction: Bid on Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s Looks to Raise Money for OklahomaAug 9, 2013 @ 10:00 am
Starting today, multiple country stars are auctioning off outfits they wore to special events to charity. Corri McFadden, founder of the luxury consignment service eDrop-Off, and Trish Townsend, stylist to Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton, came up with the idea to raise money to help people affected by the tornadoes in Oklahoma. “My heart was crushed for those families,” Townsend told InStyle.com. “When I asked friends in Nashville for donations, they were so generous. It just shows how fashion can really make a difference.” You can bid for a chance to own Carrie Underwood’s 2013 CMT Awards gown by Georges Chakra, Miranda Lambert’s 2013 ACM dress by Jovani, Blake Shelton’s outfit from The Voice blind auditions, plus items from Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean and the Rascal Flatts. Go to shopedropoff.com starting today through August 18 to bid — 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the American Red Cross to rebuild Oklahoma.

Fashion déjà vu! The Voice contestant Danielle Bradbery isn’t only taking vocal advice from Blake Shelton, she’s taking fashion inspiration from his wife, Miranda Lambert. The finalist chose a silver beaded strapless dress by Jovani when she took the stage to belt out her defining song, “Maybe It Was Memphis” by Pam Tillis during last night’s show. The label is one of Lambert’s go-tos for stage costumes. Case in point: The sparkling fringed design made us recall the intricately-adorned Jovani dress that Lambert donned for her Grammy’s performance, shown here. Want to channel rising country-star Bradbury and role model Miranda? Click over to jovani.com to see where you can score the beaded number. (Cowboy boots sold separately.) Tune in to the season finale of The Voice to see if Danielle wins it all at 9/8c on NBC.

The hairstyles at last night’s CMT Awards challenged country music’s reputation for over-coiffed updos. Rather, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Kristen Bell, and Carrie Underwood all strode into the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with effortless down styles that packed a dose of surfer girl appeal. While Underwood and Lambert opted for defined waves, Swift and Bell went the natural route with soft, tousled looks. The easiest way to get the look is to spritz a texturizer or beach-waving spray onto damp strands, then let your hair air-dry to enhance your own texture. We love Bumble and Bumble’s Surf Spray ($25; bumbleandbumble.com), which became such a cult favorite that the brand launched a coordinating shampoo and conditioner ($25 and $24; bumbleandbumble.com). If you prefer a more defined wave, loosely wrap sections of hair in alternating directions around a curling iron, then wait until each area is completely cool before you give your strands a tousle.

Blake Shelton is going to be on NBC tonight, but not in one of the big red chairs for The Voice. This time, he teamed up with the United Way of Central Oklahoma to host Healing in the Heartland, a relief concert to benefit those affected by the devastating tornados in Oklahoma, Shelton’s home state. And some of country’s biggest stars—including Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, Rascal Flatts, and Luke Bryan—are set to join Shelton on stage to perform live at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. Tune into NBC tonight at 9/8c to watch. If you want to help, visit unitedway.org to make a donation to help continue to raise funds and aid the communities in need.

Steady rain didn’t stop Orb, the favorite horse, from winning the 139th Kentucky Derby on Saturday, nor did it keep the stars from showing up on the red carpet in their finest southern belle ensembles. Lauren Conrad, Miranda Lambert, and Coco Rocha are just a few of the celebs we are tipping our hats to this year for their inspired headpieces; click the photo to see their looks, plus our favorite star-studded Kentucky Derby hats from years’ past.

Keith Urban, Faith Hill (in Chado Ralph Rucci), Taylor Swift (in Naeem Khan), Tim McGraw, and more ventured west to the glitzy MGM Grand Garden Arena for the 48th annual ceremony for the mega-country celebration. Luke Bryan, who also co-hosted the evening with The Voice judge Blake Shelton, took home the evening’s biggest fan-voted honor, the Entertainer of the Year award, only made that much more special by the fact 1.1 million fans casted their votes, while southern newcomers Florida Georgia Line won the other fan-voted category, New Artist of the Year. Miranda Lambert took home the Female Vocalist of the Year prize for the fourth year in a row, making her only the third artist ever (after country legends Reba McEntire and Loretta Lynn) to win the honor four or more times.
