Sunday night’s American Music Awards felt like the ultimate concert and fashion show in one, complete with performances by Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, and many more. For starters, Taylor Swift, looking golden in a Julien Macdonald mini-dress, took home four awards, including the night’s top honor: Artist of the Year. Swift set an AMAs record, being the first person to ever win the award three times. “Winning Artist of the Year for the third time is kind of a little bit mind numbingly unbelievable, it is a little bit hard to absorb all at once,” Swift told InStyle.com. “It’s amazing, and the fact that it’s fan voted makes it that much better. This year has been unreal for me with this album. I don’t expect things to do well, just by default, so for this to happen is just wonderful.”
Another big winner was Rihanna, who was given the AMA’s first Icon Award, along with an award for Favorite Soul/R&B Female Artist. Wearing a sexy Jean Paul Gaultier look, the singer was presented the award by her mother, Monica Fenty, who told her daughter how proud she was of her success. “I know the journey in your career has not always been an easy one,” Fenty said onstage. She had more kind words for her successful daughter: “I applaud you and admire you for being so strong and so positive and so humble and so focused.”
One of the most interesting moments of the evening? Lady Gaga rode down the red carpet atop a large, white, human-operated costume horse, wearing the exact same lavender Versace dress she wore in a campaign for the fashion house, released the day prior. Timberlake took home three awards at the fan-voted awards show, while Ariana Grande won New Artist of the Year and One Direction nabbed two awards including Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group.
After walking the red carpet in a white pantsuit at the beginning of the evening, Miley Cyrus, who turned 21 the day before the show, closed the night with an emotional performance of “Wrecking Ball,” which surprisingly included a giant lip-syncing kitten in the background. Dressed in a two-piece cat-adorned ensemble, the singer proved her skills by flawlessly belting out her hit, while the giant cat was floating onscreen behind her, even crying in zero-gravity at one point. Check out the complete list of AMAs winner’s here.

Miley Cyrus Honors Marc Jacobs and Robert Duffy at the Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars GalaOct 23, 2013 @ 4:49 pm
The Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars Gala was certainly a big event for Marc Jacobs and his business partner Robert Duffy. The duo behind the iconic fashion house received the honor of the Superstar Award, which was presented to them by none other than Miley Cyrus. “I thought it was really nice that they honored us both!” Duffy told InStyle.com. “We just had our 30-year anniversary in March, and it was just really sweet of them to do that, because it’s usually just Marc getting the award.” Hosted by Simon Doonan at New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street, attendees were treated to a lavish dinner as additional honorees like Angela Missoni, Alexander Wang, Christopher Kane, and more, accepted their well-deserved awards. The biggest surprise of the night came when Aretha Franklin took the stage to perform a showstopping rendition of “Respect,” and while it was a tough act to follow, Cyrus held the crowd’s attention with her thoughtful words — not to mention her gorgeous mermaid-esque Marc Jacobs number. “I think it’s important to find people that are not scared to believe in someone that’s rebellious, and Robert really is all this to Marc,” she said in her speech. “It’s amazing to be a part of it and watch, and they have continued to inspire me.” Click the photo to see more from the event, and to go inside more star-studded parties!
Miley Cyrus is showing no signs of stopping her “movement,” and we can’t stop listening to her. The 20-year-old singer, who just released her fourth studio album Bangerz yesterday, stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and sang a cappella version of “We Can’t Stop” in Brady Bunch style with Jimmy Fallon and The Roots without twerking, midriffs, or dancing bears. It’s similar to Fallon’s classroom series, where he and his Late Night team sing covers with artists, like “Blurred Lines” with Robin Thicke, using low-fi instruments, but this time, they just beatboxed the tune. Click to watch the full two minute and 33 second video and we have to admit, this video performance shows off her talent — and redeems the young star.

Miley Cyrus is officially making a bang with her fourth studio album Bangerz, which hit iTunes and stores today. The 20-year-old singer isn’t a stranger to the news and since June, she has been making headlines with her latest album when the first single, “We Can’t Stop” hit the airwaves and her music video quickly became the most viewed on Vevo in just 24 hours. And who could forget her twerking performance at the VMAs followed by the release of her boundary-pushing video for the ballad “Wrecking Ball?” Long before her midriff-wearing and punk rock crop days, Cyrus was just a 13-year-old who landed the bubbly lead role in Disney’s Hannah Montana alongside her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. Today, the Oxford Dictionaries Online added the term “twerk,” along with “selfie,” “badassery” and more than 60 other slang words, to its online dictionary, Time reports. Why now? Time says they have become a symbol of culture as it is today, and we also believe we have Hollywood to thank for their relevance. Rihanna regularly defines what badassery looks like, while Beyonce and Selena Gomez have perfected the art of the selfie. And need we remind you of Miley Cyrus bringing “twerk” into the spotlight with her recent MTV Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke? We may be most excited about “selfie” officially entering the English lexicon, because we think the trend has way more staying power than “twerking” ever will. (Sorry, Miley!) With that said, check out our tips for taking the perfect selfie below.
Between the twerking, dancing with teddy bears and blurred lines with Robin Thicke, Miley Cyrus left no costume detail overlooked during her performance at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, right down to her embellished nails. The “We Can’t Stop” singer used Nails Inc’s Monogram Manicure to place black letters on the nails of each hand to spell M-I-L-E-Y. If you want to try the look, you’ll have to wait. The Monogram Manicure kit used to create the look will be available for $25 at Sephora stores and sephora.com at the end of December. It contains over 150 letters and characters in black and white, giving you plenty of options to personalize your nails. The kit also includes two polishes in cool gray and deep plum, a stick applicator, and a Kensington Caviar 45-second topcoat for sealing your nail designs. Not sure you’ll remember to order this come December? Luckily, you can pre-order the kit at nailsinc.com.
